“Good location, not so good service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

An atmospheric little pub in a picturesque location, ideal if you are walking or cycling The Salterns Way as we were. What lets this pub down is the fact that it stops serving food at 3.30pm on Saturdays but there is no indication of this on the many blackboards inside and outside. We arrived at the bar at 3.25pm and bought our drinks. We then went back to the bar after putting our drinks on a table in the garden only to be told they'd stopped serving food! The staff cannot have failed to hear us discussing our potential food order when we purchased the drinks but said nothing. Perhaps they realised that, had we known, we would not have ordered drinks but would have gone elsewhere. In the current economic climate, and given the location of this pub and the not insignificant drop in trade which occurs in the winter, to not offer even sandwiches or baguettes throughout a sunny Saturday in August seems shortsighted and lacking in customer focus.

“Prime location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

This is a prime location with a small seated area to the rear affording a view of Bosham Harbour one of the best and ever-changing views you could hope for. A largre seating area to the front and a quaint and comfortable interior. The service is polite efficient and speedy with consistently good food. No complaints at all and quite memorable each time we visit, The only draw back on this occasion were the wasps which caused some to flee, but they seemed to be most everywhere in the village. Time your visit to coincide with incoming tide and take the time to check out the sea advance on cars parked on the shoreline. A great spectator sport!!

“A good little pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Went back on Saturday. Perfect weather. Walked along the front in both directions. Sun shimmering on the water. Lots of yachts and little boats...girls but mainly boys hauling boats out of the water. The church is a gem - check it out in the Bayeux Tapestry! And then...top it all off with a pint and a pretty good pub meal. Have read reviews below and would only say - choose carefully from the menu but my blue cheese cheesecake salad was spot on. Expect to wait for seat. Busy, popular pub, but service was fast, polite and excellent. There is seating overlooking the sea and inside - neither accessible if you have mobility issues, but front garden is pretty good...can just about get a wheelchair/buggy in there and high chairs are available. If you're in a wheelchair, you might need to use the loo in the car park.

“Busy, popular and average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

We couldn't book for lunch so arrived early to get a table. Restaurant was already busy and we found the room too cramped. The menu looked good but when the food arrived we were all somewhat disappointed at the quality - we could have done better at home with the same ingredients. A pity since we had guests from overseas and had hoped that this old world pub would have given s a much better experience.
