“Watch out for the Chicken Bones and Tough Rib Eye steak”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

We visited this establishment recently, and were very disappointed in the deteriorated in service and quality of the food. Previously we had been greeted and found a table, the food was excellent and the service was second to none. This time we could have been in a totally different place, we had to go to find someone so that we could be seated. The choices on the menu were now no different from any other large chain of restaurants. We ordered our food expecting the order to take a normal amount of time, wrong, we waited over half an hour. My husband had ordered a rib eye steak, which lacked flavour and was tough, the 'seasoned' chips weren't. I ordered Hunter's Chicken, which contained a bone, which I only found when I bite into it. I did not complain at the time, because there were no members of staff around to complain to. When the young lady came to collect our plates, she was told of the bone. I was told that the chef said i could expect to find bones. I disagreed obviously I was not very happy. I was later told that they would have to contact their suppliers as this was the second incident. Needless to say we will not be returning

“Lovely atmosphere”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

Great food at good prices and fairly quick. We like to sit outside when we can as the tables are well spaced so you can have a bit of privacy. Intend to go again fairly soon. Good Sunday specials.

“Awful Food & a very poorly run pub diner”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Firstly, this is NOT a typical "Country" Pub. This is a large chain pub located on a main road between Chichester and Emsworth. The tone is set aptly from the moment you enter the Bosham Inn. No members of staff acknowledge you. Nobody greets you and you have to attract the attention of one of the very few staff on duty to obtain the simple service of drinks from the bar. A medium size glass of mass produced plonk will set you back a fiver. The three visible members of staff on duty appear to be very basically trained and there is no sense of management or leadership presence displayed by anybody. Standard menus are laminated, but when I requested the Sunday Roast menu, four of us were asked to share one A5 piece of paper which was partially illegible due to the ink having run out on the printer used to prepare it. This indifferent , shoddy and amateur approach very much sets the tone for the " meals " which will be served to us.
Unless you enjoy cheap wine being sold at five pounds per glass, awful food drowning in thick soggy gloopy gravy, avoid this place at all costs. Impersonal and lacking atmosphere, the dreary Bosham Inn is the kind of place that gives chain pubs a bad name. All four of our mains were small in portion, dry and over cooked and the two meat dishes served to us were truly awful, served with a disgusting thick gluey gravy . You could Not blame the Chef for producing such slops as no true chef would allow the meals served to us out of a kitchen. Perhaps it was chef's day off? Dreadful and a winner by a mile of the WORST pub meal that I have ever been served award. With three million people unemployed, the manager of this place wants being put out of his or her misery and Vintage Inns who own the Bosham Inn as well as 200 other such venues need to take a very close look at what they are supplying and asking the public to consume and that your dining experience should be an enjoyable event. There are plenty of genuine rurally located Country pubs in West Sussex which serve very fine food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The Bosham Inn is NOT one of them. AVOID!

“Nothing special ...”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

This is an establishment operated by 'Vintage Inns'.
It serves pub food at reasonable value - 2-course lunch for £8.00. That's good value, but the food is little more than acceptable, although those gourmet chunky chips are extraordinary, and worth the £1.00 upgrade.
It's the sort of place that you might use when you can't be bothered to cook at home, or, as we were, just passing.
There's nothing really bad about the place, and it's a very attractive building.
We were courteously and speedily served, but the food did not exceed expectations from a road-side hostelry. It's not great, but let's face it, you only get what you pay for.
One really good point: they serve hot food on warmed plates ... that's a plus!

“Great Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We wanted somewhere suitable for a family Sunday lunch and the location of the Boshm Inn was perfect.
We booked a table, which was just as well, as they looked fully booked when we arrived. The customers were a good mix of young and old. It is obviously a popular restaurant.
Bearing in mind how busy they were, we were advised that our food would be about 15 to 20 minutes which was acceptable. We all ordered something different which is a test of any restaurant especially during a busy period.
The food that arrived was hot and tasty and well presented and at the end of the meal, all plates were empty. All in all, a great place with a varied menu and on Sunday's, an additional roast option.
