This has been our family's Friday night 'cantine' for the past 4 years in Paris. It has grown in size and popularity since the first time we went there, and the quality of the food has only gotten better. It is a cozy Italian place 20 minutes away from the center of Paris, with music playing in the background (from pop to classical) to accompany the wonderful cuisine it serves. The starters are well served in terms of size, presentation and quality, going from a thin, bloody red carpaccio with rucula, dried tomato, mozzarella and parmesan, to fried calamari, to a wonderfully dressed 'aubergine millefeuille' and many more.
For main dishes, I have tried mainly all the pizzas and pastas in the menu, and they are each unique in their own way. The best one, in my opinion, is the Tartufo Pizza with consists of pizza bread, a black truffle sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms. To soften the flavor of the mushrooms with the truffle, once the pizza is out of the oven, the cook places a hand full of rucula and parmesan on top. Perfect combination!
To accompany the whole meal, there is the typical heavy Leffe beer that most costumers order.
For desert, the menu offers a wide range of choices including Panacotta, tarte tatin with a ball of ice cream, tiramisu, Baba au Rhum, and Italian ice creams. There is also, like with the entrances and main dishes, a weekly suggestion of desert.
Parking is not difficult to find and children can make noise without their parents getting ‘the look’ from the French quite families… It is ideal to have your first date, to have your birthday party, to bring your friends or to simply come with your family to enjoy a delicious Italian meal. Try it, you won’t regret it!
