I've just finished staying in Manohara Hotel with my family and we are not quite happy with what we have experienced. Localization is purely perfect, 5 min walking to Borobudur Temple and free tickets provided by the hotel. Staff is also really nice.
Cons? The hotel ground is huge but it has no pool which is really odd and would be an excellent way to improve the quality of staying in Manohara. The thing I couldn't stand was the food. Quite bad, from 0 to 10 it was 2/3. Plates were constantly dirty, yesterday they didn't even have spring rolls which says that they are frozen, not fresh. Breakfast can as well be serve as dinner because almost everything from hot dishes is also in dinner card.
I recommend the hotel if you're there only to see Borobudur. If you like good food and want a place to relax, Manohara is definitely not for you.

The location cannot be better. It is like the hotel is part of the temple, to which it has an exclusive access. When you stay at the hotel, you also get a daily pass, and you can actually visit the temple as many times as you want, but i will come back to that.

We stayed there with our 5 months baby, who got a cot. If you are travelling with small children, you need to be prepared. We took a inflatable bath tub because the bathrooms have showers only, and the water is warm, but not hot enough for a baby. Otherwise, Magelang is hot, so for adults everything is perfect.

The room was very clean and Borobudur temple was litterally a stairway away. Breakfast is ok, but options for lunch and dinner where much much better, and the restaurant has a breathtaking view of the temple.

The premises are just beautiful. You can breath peace. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. They will assist you if you want to take a horse carriage, a car or a bicycle around the village. You would not want to miss that.

Prices are extremely reasonable. As we were travelling with a baby and wanted to save ourselves the hussle, we ordered a ride from the airport, and then another to tour the village. No regrets whatsoever.

The hotel, that is also a study center, has a meditation room too. You can watch a short documentary on the temple before the visit. The sunset one is amazing...

To be honest, if you are looking for a comfortable and memorable experience, do go to Manohara. The place is great, the people are nice, and what you save in other hotels if you are foreigner you will need to pay as an entrance fee to the temple. We wouls definetely go there again. The spirituality of the temple, its peacefulness can be felt in the hotel.

just return from a night stay here. rooms are simple, take Super Super Long hours to have the air con cool the room and only one key card given. my case takes about 4hrs and temperature is 16degree with high fan. the bed is soft n the pillows are too fluffy yet when u sleep on it, it's flatten n even when I folded half, it still feel flat. I did not have a good night sleep at all. woke up every 2hrs to check when is daylight just wana get out soon. not woke up by the early morning prayers. 2 bottles mineral water provided. TV channel in room are basis channels but do have a few international channels.

Resort was not full when I was there. area is big , serene and divided by a gate to Borobudur with about 5-8mins walking distance. there are shopping street next to Borobudur exit where you can shop. voucher is given for free entering Borobudur from 6am-5pm during your stay. not sure if it's single entry or multiple entry as I was not ask to produce voucher when entering. did not go for sunrise at 430am with charges. it's cloudy/Hazy.

breakfast n dinner area are 2 different places and location. Dinner menu is abit expensive but still acceptable. I tried their creamy western chicken mushroom soup.. it's watery..they sell alcohol too. luckily breakfast have eggs station otherwise the provided breakfast is Super basic nothing to shout about but you won't go hungry either. breakfast voucher required.

never see the audio visual documentary eventho it's free to visit but you need voucher to enter base on the states date, it will be given to you upon check in. unless u are too free need to occupy your time, you can make a trip to Jakarta room based on every 35mins later. I went in, only a Japanese guy was inside the cold studio cos its in Japanese language. it seems first come first serve- the language u wanted to listen.

overall stay not worth for the amount paid for, over price at IDR1150,000 for a room night with breakfast only.

I had stayed in this hotel for a day. However the hotel complex is well spread out with green lawns and garden which touches the temple compound. The tickets to the temple has to be purchased from this hotel. To visit the temple and view the sunrise you need to stay here because it is 5-7 min walk to the Borobudur Temple from your room and you can wake up at 4.30 am and lazily walk to the temple to view the sun rise. The rooms are over priced considering the size of the rooms. The rooms give an impression of little crampness. However the rooms open into a private open space which has a swing .The ambience of the property is perfect for relaxation.Since it is far from Yogyakarta, you dont have anything to do in the evening unless you visit it.The reception, hall and dining rooms are open on all sides giving a perception of staying with the nature.

Fantastic place with which to explore borobudur.
Lovely grounds of the hotel which extend into the temple complex.
Very easy to access the site in the late afternoon and watch the sunset from the restaurant whilst enjoying a meal (get the grilled fish).
Rooms are fine with wifi and air conditioning though the hot water tank is a bit light.
Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting for a day or two to see the temple and surrounds.
Do the sunrise tour!
