“Avoid rooms 14 to 18”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Writing from the computer at the lobby.

- Wifi does not work well in the rooms - the signal too weak. Wifi is good in the lobby and there is one computer in the lobby.
- Checked in 3 hours ago and had a good lunch at the resto. IDR 140,000 for chicken teriyaki, oxtail, veggies and rice (two people).
- Was put in room 14. Rooms 14 to 18 have yet to be renovated.
- These rooms have manual lock doors, old white tiles, terrible bathrooms (old water closet, old wash basin and bath tubs).
- New rooms have electronic door locks, new wooden floor tiles, new bathroom fixtures (new water closets, wash basins and shower cubicles).
- We also have a leaky air/conditioning unit.
- Tried to change rooms but was told that all rooms have been booked tonight.
- Excellent location to visit the site.

I am perfectly sure that my experience would have been that much more positive if I was staying in any room other than 14 to 18.

Set in beautiful gardens and located just a short walk from the Borobudur Temple I thought this was an ideal place to stay. Although a little over my usual budget, when taking into account the discount on the sunrise tour and access to the temple, it seemed a good deal. The reception area was very pleasant and although some of the furnishings were a little dated the room was large and airy with a decent modernised bathroom.

Unfortunately what spoiled things somewhat for me was the construction works going on probably only around 50 meters from my room. I arrived early in the afternoon in anticipation of spending some time relaxing on my terrace and admiring the grounds. In reality it was impossible to sit there with constant noise from hammers and circular saws. Even in the room it was possible to hear the noise. No-one from the hotel had bothered to tell me about this. When I asked what time it was likely to stop I was told 'not sure but it should stop by 6'. Unfortunately there was still noise ongoing until around 9pm and it started again the following morning around 8.30 am.

There were lots of things to like about the hotel and I did my best to enjoy my stay. However, I think it was unforgiveable for the hotel to not warn me about the construction work or offer some compensation whether in the form of a discount, free meal or similar.

Stay:1 night, 1 queen size single bedroom
Cost: 850,000
Perspective: Young backpacker

Although I am not giving this place the best review ratings, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The room was very nice and clean, the restaurant offered good food, and best of all, the resort is literally a 5 minute walk from your room to Borobudur, which is very nice when you are waking up early to see the 5am sunrise. After the previous night of climbing Mt. Merapi, coming here was a pleasure. All of the staff are also very friendly.

My only negatives would be that for a place in Indonesia, it is a bit expensive but nevertheless, that is a result of the privilege of staying so close.

This Hotel was way better than expected!
The rooms were newly renovated, the bathroom was fantastic: Clean, new. There are 2 sterilised!!! glasses in the room . Everything in the rooms was perfect.

The Service was very friendly and breakfast at the Hotel was okay. Very fair Price/value relation!

From this Hotel you can directly walk to the Borobudur Temple, and it's one of the only two Hotels who is allowed to do the sunrise-borobudur tour wich starts at 4.30 in the morning. I can highly recommend to do this tour, you get a flashlight and a sarong. The sunrise is just absolutely stunning.

Room Tip: Book in advance, Hotel sometimes is fully booked. Sunrise Tour Borobodur is a must!

The location is excellent. It is the only one hotel that locates inside the Borobudur Temple attraction zone. If you stay in this hotel, you can visit Borobudur Temple freely whenever you like. Since the price of Borobudur is about 20USD, visiting Borobudur twice is nearly equal to half of the price of the room. Very good value and very good location.

the main advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the temple, which allows you to come and go easily between the two.
the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are clean and to the point.
food is okay. the breakfast is disappointing.
