This property is on my top 5 list of properties in the world. I favor small boutique hotels and this one is perfect. Beautiful setting with views of the temple in the distance and volcano behind. The pool was great and perfect for lap swims as well. There was a wonderful afternoon tea that was very relaxing and delicious. The Rindik music played during dinner was authentic and relaxing. One of my favorite features of the Aman experience is the access. You can get in to the temple well before the public and watch the sun rise. We had a massage in the room that was perfect after a long bike ride through the rice fields nearby.

We loved everything at amanjiwo: the villas are great, location is perfect, service is the best i ever had in a 5 stars hotel. It is the first time we see a guy there to pick up the balls for us on a tennis court! Food is delicious, spa is great, and excursions are superb: in a word'' it is paradise.

I really can't pinpoint on why Amanjiwo is so amazing, but it is just so amazing. Amanjiwo is very beautiful and elegant but yet very homey so that you won't feel too intimidated by the luxury. The service is top-notch. They do an amazing job in making you feel at home and comfortable.

We ordered a garden pool suite and got upgraded to a borobudur pool suite (#24). The suite is so beautifully decorated but yet still maintains its simplicity. We loved the outdoor bathtub and the large dressing rooms. But my favourite was the outdoor bale that overlooks the rice field, beautiful Mt. Sumbing and Borobudur Temple. It was very surreal. I could watch the view all day. I did enjoyed the private pool for its total privacy, but the main pool itself is good enough.

A hidden gem of Amanjiwo that we discovered was the view from this bale not too far from the main pool which overlooks the rice field. They call it "bale sawah". From the "bale sawah", we were able to witness clear view of all the three volcanoes that surround Amanjiwo (Sumbing, Merbabu and Merapi) with Borobudur temple at the centre. It was a magnificent view. Although you may need a great, cloudless sky weather to be able to see the volcanoes clearly. We were really blessed with amazing weather on the three days we were there.

Another thing that you can't miss is the sunrise visit to the Borobudur temple. The view was breathtaking. Yes, it is super early, but it's worth it. It's magical. We also did the intellectual Borobudur tour afterwards and really enjoyed it. I felt that I was transported back in time.

Food was great. They serve good quality foods and I thought it was pretty healthy. And the free afternoon tea that they provided was amazing. We got to taste the traditional Indonesian drinks called jamu, made by a local lady while enjoying the beautiful amanjiwo and its surrounding magnificent view. Very relaxing!

Totally recommended! Thank you Amanjiwo.

We spent 4 nights at Amanjiwo on my wife's birthday with our one year old son accompanying us. Jiwo was the only Aman that we hadn't visited in Indonesia and boy was it worth the wait. If you are into architecture and settings right out of an ancient fairy tale with the expected impeccable Aman service then this is the place for you. The view from the main building that encapsulates the lobby and restaurant is purely magical. The hotel is perfectly aligned with Borobudur temple in the distance and two volcanoes hovering in the distance. One of my favorite properties ever!

Everything about this property defines Aman's quality of hotels. The location - superb - straight view down to Borobudur Temple itself, with the option of riding elephants down directly to the temple(!), delicious food with exquisite Indonesian food, rooms that look like spas in other 5-star hotels - immaculately clean, peaceful, beautiful. The service, of course, was flawless, as was the entire experience.

This is a very late review.

I stayed at Amanjiwo on October 2010 for business purpose. Since it has been 3 years hence what I can remember of this hotel is just its perfection! I feel like in heaven. Really amazed of the luxury that I've never felt in the five-star hotels: The interior, the architecture, the food, the service, the quality of sleep, and ultimately the massage. Really a right place to relax, especially they provide no TV and other human-made entertainment. TV is available by request.

Concept of this hotel is resorts (pavilions). Bathtub is located outdoor at the backyard of each pavilion so you can feel how to take a bath in an open nature! Pavilions are distances so don't worry, you will never hear any voices from your neighbor. The amenities are so complete and are so good. I love the watercolor set, hats, and the body lotion. You can take it them with you. Free.

This hotel is only few meters away from Borobudur, and has the shortcut to Borobudur. Waking up very early in the morning to see the sunrise in Borobudur is just great idea :) Really beautiful.

Btw, I forgot whether this hotel provide free breakfast or not, but I remembered that the choice of breakfast was very limited. But it was just okay since I was there to enjoy the luxury, not for culinary trip.

Best time to visit Amanjiwo, and Indonesia in general is May-September.

Just it for the review... Really wish to visit this hotel again someday :) or other Aman resorts.
