Such an amazing place!
The villas are separated enough to make you feel in the jungle where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the volcanoes and Borobudur temple from your room (or from your private pool if you stay in one of those rooms).
The staff is incredibly friendly and willing to go the extra mile for the guests whether it's driving you to a nearby restaurant or serving you breakfast at 6am because you need to catch an early flight from Yogyakarta.
We couldn't have enjoyed more our three night stay at Villa Borobudur and strongly recommend it to anyone planning to visit this town.

The resort sent a driver to meet us at Yogya airport, and we stopped to visit Prambanan en route. The drive was a nice one, and upon arrival, we were surprised to learn that we had received a free upgrade from the room we booked to a a large 2-bedroom villa with a private pool! The villa was stunning, with views over Borobudur, and we really enjoyed the private pool. The rooms were quite spacious and nicely designed. The food was also pretty good - I particularly enjoyed the sop ayam.

We had booked a sunrise tour of Borobudur through the hotel, and unfortunately our driver was about 25 minutes late. It did not see to be a common occurrence, and the hotel apologised for this and offered us lunch on them to make up for the delay. The staff were great throughout our stay, and we were treated really well. Overall, this was one of the nicest places we stayed during this trip to Indonesia, and I would certainly go back. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a seven night stay in the Villa Borobudur, despite some issues. The property is a complex of isolated villas, each with its own staff and facilities (including a private pool), and several suites close to the central communal area. All buildings are in rural territory on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley where the town and temple are situated and facing volcanic Mt Merapi, c. 35 km distance. The views are thus wonderful and there is a sense of peace - at least until the many nearby mosques start broadcasting on hi volume speakers. Our visit was during Ramadan, so recitals of the Koran were competitive and at all hours (earplugs helped).

The design of all the buildings is traditional and elegant and the hotel also has an attractive collection of contemporary Javanese art. The staff arrange tours locally - allow for at least two temple visits - and regionally - Prambanan is a must-see (and include the ballet) and Yogyakarta is worth the effort. The hotel provides a car and driver, essential for even local exploration, as other access to the property isn’t practical. There are no walks in the immediate area, so there’s an occasional claustrophobic feeling.

We were upgraded to an enormous one bedroom villa (the smallest one) which was attractively and elegantly designed. However, it was oddly equipped e.g. there was more clothes storage than we have (or need) in our home - but no bath or desk and really poor lighting, especially in the bathroom. The shower was a dragon’s head. More positively, we enjoyed a private pool, great views, a shaded garden and the support of the solicitous and dedicated staff team.

The excellent cuisine is essentially Indonesian and we enjoyed it. The cost of meals was low by European standards but even the local wines were expensive (as usual in Indonesia). Laundry was good value. WiFi was generally ok but failed occasionally. The staff are excellent.

Overall, a unique and enjoyable experience - a marginal 5/5 - but there is room for improvement.

My husband and I stayed two nights here, and really enjoyed it. The hotel is located up in the hills away from the buzz of the village, and the view over Borobudur and the volcano is amazing. We stayed in one of the rooms above the restaurant. The food was always very tasty. We had the pool area almost entirely to ourselves. Even though there were some problems with the a/c the second night, they gave us another room to sleep in and let us keep our stuff in the old room so no worries. They also gave us a free ride to Borobudur to see the sunrise at 4am and even prepared coffee and fruit for us. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend this place.

we stayed for 2 nights in one of the beautiful;villas....it came with an outdoor dining area...its own pool and an amazing view of Borobudur and the volcano. The service was impeccable....all meals are brought to the villa from an adjacent kitchen...and staff are on hand for the tiniest of requests. On the final morning we had to leave at 5.30am for the airport....the staff still came to serve us breakfast at 5am!!! There were some delicious Indonesian food on offer...you chose from a short menu...but it is no problem to order everything so you can try all of the flavours.

We did not see another guest through our entire stay as we were in our own private paradise! There is an extensive range of trips on offer...we went to a pottery class in a local village, the local market and a volcano.

We booked their java package direct with the property...well worth it as it comes with all meals, soft drinks, a trip to Borobudur, free transfers to the airport and free laundry!....perfect for us as we were midway through a 2 week trip!

Highly recommended
