my husband and I have just returned from a wonderful three night stay at Villa Borobudur and could have stayed for another three quite easily. We loved everything about this place - the superbly carved joglos complete with our very own standing buddha outside, the outside rain shower (reminded me of being on safari in Africa), the friendliest staff ever, the amazing view of the borobudur and the volcano from our room and of course the Indonesian food. The lovely Dutch general managers Noelle & Ingo really do everything to make your stay as perfect as possible, from recommending places they think you will like to providing driver and guides. Also if you are concerned about eco tourist then this is the place for you - you only have to walk through the village with Noelle to see the mutual respect that exists between villa and village and witness what they have contributed to village life in the shape of building wells, providing building materials for housing etc. During our stay we were invited to attend the breaking of the fast (it was Ramadan) at the local mosque and it was a memorable experience to share this with these truly genuine and friendly people. We will certainly be back. Its a great weekend get away from Singapore and so easy to get there - the villa even arranges a driver to collect you from the airport. What could be simpler

Dear Carol, Thank you for your wonderful review and it was our pleasure to have you as our guests. You clearly enjoyed your experience of Central Java and it was also very much appreciated by the people of Dusun Pete that you took the time and effort to visit them and share with them the opening of the fasting one afternoon. The essence of Central Javanese culture is mutual respect and acceptance and a true kindness towards other people.
We look forward to your next visit, there is still much more to see and do. Like exploring the Merapi, visit some other galleries and museums and you still wanted to go rafting as well.
Warm regards, Ingo, Noëlle and all Villa Borobudur staff

We stayed at Villa Borobudur with our children of 12, 14 and 17 and, quite simply put, the place is the gem of Java. We were picked up at the Yogya train station and from there on we were pampered by the wonderful ( friendliest ever!) staff. Since we traveled with the five of us, it was very comfortable to be driven by two mini busses to the Villa. Our villa's Queen Maya and Suddhodana ( next to each other ), were perfect to stay at. We did not miss an AC. We loved the detailed woodwork and set up of the rooms. The view from our rooms and the place where meals were served is breathtaking. We loved the Java style of the Villa's, excellent service and food, No issue with bugs.
Food was delicious ( and kind to our 'system' ). The tips for making trips were all excellent, we had such a great time.
No other five star hotel can be compared with Villa Borobudur. the place and the staff are one of a kind! Our kids also had the time of their life.
Love to come and stay again!

Dear Esther and family, Thank you for your review and wonderful you took the time to tell others about your experiences at Villa Borobudur. It was great to have you all as our guests and so nice to see how you enjoyed your 6 days with us so much. Great you got to relax and have some fun while rafting and making the pottery. The happy face of your son with his birthday cake, still makes the staff smile. We do hope you will be back, let us know when! Warmest regards Ingo & Noëlle and all Borobudur staff

We went to Villa Borobudur for three nights with our family. It was a very relaxing and wonderful stay because of the really nice staff and the beautiful decorated ambiance. The staff is every moment of the day so friendly! Besides, the view on the Borobudur Temple is very amazing, you really can enjoy it with a nice Nespresso at the swimming pool! The good food and the massage make your stay formidable. You can relax in a very private and quiet environment!

We stayed here for 7 nights, 6 at villa diponegoro and 1 at Borobudur suite. My advice, stay at villa diponegoro. It's in my view the best villa on the property. Nice big private pool and very breezy, which is great when there is no air conditioning. We are city folks but didn't miss the air conditioning at all at villa diponegoro. By contrast the Borobudur suite was way warmer, much less breeze and the water pressure in the shower insufficient. Food was very good every time but what impressed us most was the excellent service! It came across as genuine and sincere, which is not something you come across very often. The only thing that takes getting used to is the call to prayers from the nearby villages which can be a tad loud but you are in a Muslim country and that is part and package of the experience. All in all we had a fabulous time so thank you Ingo and team at Villa Borobudur!

My sister recommended Villa Borobudur for a three nights stay to celebrate my birthday. We, ie sister, niece and i spent a restful and memorable weekend at the wonderfurl place which indeed was a Gem hidden in little Dusun Menoreh. The view from the Villa Dipanegoro was spectacular where Candi Borobudur and Gurung Merapi can be seen amindst the surrounding lush greenery. One can just spend the whole day sitting next to the pool or in the jacuzzi and stare dreamily into the distance with a whimsical smile. This GEM is supported by an Intricate and Genteel Setting - the ever accomodating and friendly Staffs who epitomised the term 'Service with a Smile'. Everything that we needed was at hand - a Thumb's -up to Ingo and his team.

Although the WIFI could do with a stronger signal but then who needs the internet when we can be One with Nature!
