Fabulous temple. I went on Christmas vacation with family. I took a morning train from Chennai and reached to Chidambaram around 12.30 PM. From railway station it is only 15 mins (Rs 80/-) in auto. The temple is closed from 12 - 4 PM. There are lot of hotels/ restaurants nearby for staying / food. Food is mostly veg and good in quality. We entered the temple @ 4 Pm and believe me I never saw such a HUGEEE entrance in my lifetime...All the 4 directions entrances are hugeee. The main temple is awesome. Lord Nataraja idol is clearly visible. There are other God idols like Laxmi , Ganesh are also there. In North- East side a huge pond is available which you are seeing in photos but it is closed in the evening. Altogether an awesome experience.

I think, this is the only big temple which does not come under HR&CE department of Tamil Nadu. that means, this is not under government control unlike other temples. That is a BIG +.
Surely, this temple can be better managed that does not mean government control, SURELY NOT..
City also needs improvement..

This is very huge temple with approximately 40 acres of land. It has similarities to our body's nine dwaras and 4 main gopuras. And you will find Nartaraja Swamy and Lord Vishnu at the same place. And it is very ancient temple. Prakaras are very huge. Overall its a great temple and must visit. You must definetely visit the temple at least once in life time. Our trip was awesome. There was not much crowd.
