For anyone coming with a family, or is a foreigner, or on honeymoon, this is the perfect place. The swimming pool is huge with lying chairs on the sides.

For foreigners having come to known about South Indian culture, this provides the perfect location, being at the centre of the "3 Great living Chola Temples" which are Airavateesvara, Brihadesswar and Gangaikondacholapuram temples.

For the romantics, the splendid lantern lightings especially with those on the wooden bridge on top of a stream at night gazing at the dark sky filled with countless stars, impossible to find at our regular bustling lives in cities, would be wonderful experiences to cherish

Protip: Authentic North and South Indian food for the foodies.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back end of the resort have a river view with trees all over

Dear Guest

What a pleasure and satisfaction when one finds that your guest is so happy with the resort.

Yes our swimming pool is always an attraction. People do fancy our lantern lights . Thanks so much guest for the candid feedback. As there is plenty of free space yes one sure can gaze the dark sky with stars.

Happy that you liked our food. Once again thank you so much and wish to see you next time whenever you are there in kumbakonam side.

Most disappointing of the Hotels we stayed at in southern India. Wonderful large pool. Staff very courteous. Large rooms furnished with very large traditional furniture set in large overgrown uncared for gardens. We had no choice but to eat here but the food was poor, there was buffet and a a la carte menu, tried both but just ok.

This hotel was more disappointing than others we stayed at in southern India, but there is little choice in the area. We were shown first to a poky, depressing room near the swimming pool, with virtually nothing in the way of amenities in it. This was unacceptable for a two-night stay (or even a one-night stay) so we were moved to a far larger and better room in a bungalow on the edge of the resort. This was an improvement but nevertheless lacking in some respects. The light switches were old and did not all work; there was no fridge or safe; and the bathroom was in dire need of renovation and updating. The shower area leaked and the shower water was either too hot or too cold. I was told that the bungalows were only constructed in 2005, something very hard to believe! Beyond the gardens near to the restaurant and reception, the grounds were in a natural state to some extent, with chickens, dogs and other fauna wandering about - this certainly made the experience more authentic! At the restaurant, we sat on the verandah which was very pleasant and more appealing than the A/C dining room which was full of coach parties. Service was good; Mr Egg made us very fine omelettes for breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms near the swimming pool

On the plus side, the staff here, as is generally the case throughout South India, are extremely nice, courteous, helpful and friendly. The expansive , grounds are also attractive, with lots of palm trees and vegetation, and charming little bridges over the stream.
The food is also good, including excellent breakfast omelettes. Meals and drinks are inexpensive.
Unfortunately though, the accommodation itself is really very poor and not helped by its overuse of traditional, heavy teak furniture. We were initially shown to a small, dark room just behind the swimming pool. There were no curtains and the fridge did not work. All the rooms in this section (numbers 51–59) are also adjacent to the very noisy main road with its unending procession of trucks and buses hooting and honking their way past. We decided that wasn't tolerable, and were instead shown to a much larger and quieter bungalow in the middle of the property. This was much more acceptable, but even here, the cupboard designed to house the fridge/minibar was mysteriously empty, there was no bedside table on the right side of the bed which was so high it was impossible to reach down to the floor, and the light on that side of the bed did not work.
I found it hard to believe that these rooms had been constructed in 2005 – they looked to be about 50 years older then that.
I gather that the CGH group is currently renovating a hotel in the nearby village, and this will no doubt be a much better bet once completed

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 51–59. Choose instead rooms 61–69

Resort looks on the outside as well on the inside like a Mexican hacienda stay or a Spanish parador which is nice.
Room was large and equipped with a two single beds pushed together to get a double, not to our liking.
Mattress was thin and was on top of a wooden plank, not comfortable at all.
There was air-con and a ceiling vent, the best wifi of all the hotels we visited, coffee and tea making facilities but no safe box.
Bathroom was huge but minimalist, one sink, a toilet and a shower.
Bathroom floor and the wall next to the toilet was not completely clean hm hm :(
Beware for the water during showering, it goes up and down from lukewarm to very hot !
We had problem to sleep not only because of the hard bed but also because of a rattling air-con unit from the room below us, (us was 26).
THE pro of this resort is the staff, all very friendly, polite and will do everything to accommodate your needs !
Also drink prices are not expensive.
