Swamimalai temple is one of the six abodes of lord subramanya (aarupadaiveedu). Temple is located at a distance of 5 kms from Kumbakonam. We can see abhishekam of lord Subramanya if we reach temple by 8 am in the morning. Temple has 60 steps which denotes 60 years of panchanga.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Karthikeya. To reach the sanctum sanctorum you need to climb a flight of stairs. However the climb is not steep and even old people can climb it albeit a bit slowly. There is a special darshan ticket of around Rs. 50. It won’t be required unless the crowd is very huge.

There is not much to say, as the temple by itself is an amazing place to be in. The benevolent Lord Muruga on this hilltop is beauty personified and a treat for the inner and outer eyes. A very holistic place.

One of the 6 group of temples for Lord Subramanya built in grandeur with unique features. This raised temple has good view of the rural Kumbakonam.

A must visit for temple lovers.
