We stayed for two weeks. We are two couples in our later years who wanted a quiet relaxing holiday.
We booked this hotel and first impressions was great the reception attendant Jamie was welcoming and very helpful.
You felt like you were made welcome and getting to the room was straight forward.
The room was basic with no access to a balcony but we were both in rooms on the second floor.
We later found out there is only 10 rooms with balconys on the ground floor.
So went to bed which were a bit on the firm side but good enough to sleep well. The bathroom was in good order in my room but the hair drier in our friends room fell apart and was repaired the next day but fell apart again.
Hot water was not a problem in the shower but getting the temp right was a risky business as it comes out scolding hot.
We got around this by running baths so not a problem.
Breakfast time?
A lot to choose from but a typical Spanish breakfast with fresh breads and cakes with cuasounts and meat cuts with cheese there was cereals and cooked ..... bacon plastic eggs beans on a few occasions but grilled tasteless tomatoes were the norm with hot dog sausages.....
The toaster would take about 6-8 runs to just about brown the bread as toast very poor.
Fresh fruit most days and biscuits too.
Coffee and tea and juices available.
The staff although busy were ok but could be a bit more friendlier but it was ok.
We only booked for bed and breakfast so can't comment on the other meals.
Pensioners (Spanish) would turn up in coaches for a lunch at the hotel every day and were treated better than the paying guests.
So we retreated to the cafe/ bar area where Racheal was working and what a smile she has...... she made you welcome and always spoke and greeted you when you walked in. A gem in the morning.
To be fair to the staff they work long hours and with the arrival of the coaches of kids staying at the hotel it was not easy for them or the guests . Breakfast would be devastated and limited due to high volumes of kids eating everything in sight the guests had to compete with them to get food .
It was noisy at night with kids running Amuck in the corridors and banging doors and screaming between floors still not good for paying guests.
The pool was lovely and cleaned and maintained every day but when the children are there ....there is no sun beds you can't relax and you can't swim or risk getting jumped on by marauding kids jumping off the water falls even though there is a sign saying no jumping or diving.
We as customers and guest were driven out of our hotel and pool by the kids.
The rooms were cleaned daily with beds made and towels changed and bins emptied.
What a shame about the hotels willingness to let the kids ruin paying guests relaxation and holiday just to fill the rooms.
A lovely position and great views from the roof top terrace even though there is no bar pool or even vending machines to get refreshment from.
Thank you Jamie ,Racheal ,and a few other members of staff who's name I can't remember for if not for you and your willingness to help it would have completely ruin our whole two weeks.

I booked this trip as a special treat for a birthday celebration. We booked two rooms, one single and one double. First of all, the location is great, it's very central and close to the lovely town of Albir and gorgeous beach. The pool area is lovely and the cleaning staff were great, the room cleaned daily. The views from the hotel are stunning.

Sadly, that's where the good stuff ends. The bathroom was falling to bits, I had to do some DIY plumbing to get the tap back on the wall on my first day, the shower was a trickle of water hot enough to make tea with and the bath plug just let the water out. The cold water was intermittent and kept going off.

The air conditioning in my room was good, which was fortunate, as there are no balconies. It's a bit like being in an office block with a bed. However, the aircon in my daughter's room was terrible, intermittent and very lack lustre. Both the rooms had issues with the card keys, my daughter having to have hers changed four times in one day. But these are all just minor inconveniences compared to what came next.

The restaurant is infested with the largest cockroaches I have ever seen. Seriously, one was so big, I didn't know whether to try to kill it or saddle it up and go for a ride. The waitress staff would calmly spray them with poison (yes by the food) and mop them away. My daughter and I have both had severe upset stomachs whilst staying her. The food is appalling, raw pork and chicken are the norm and tinned vegetables, no variation on salads or desserts, just barely edible slop, three times a day. Breakfast is about the best meal, but that is exactly the same every day. The coffee is foul and the juice basically coloured water. Drinks are extortionate, with a tiny bottle of soft drink costing 2.5e. The waiting staff are unfriendly and some are downright unpleasant and rude.

Every lunchtime a bus load of pensioners arrive and are escorted to three quarters of the dining area which other guests are not allowed to use. These tables are set beautifully with condiments and wine and salad and bread on all the tables. The guests are treated to waitress service and then taken for an afternoon of dancing and singing and entertainment. Meanwhile the guests on the other side have to share three salt pots for everyone. I had the audacity to put a salt pot on my table and got told off by the waitress and had it confiscated. We have spent a small fortune eating out!

There's no entertainment. The roof terrace bar is permanently closed. The gym is seedy and unmanned and the beauty salon also unused.

Tonight is our final night (thank goodness) and throughout the day, three separate parties of school children have arrived. They are staying all around the hotel. They are extremely loud and are running up and down the corridors, playing music, banging on doors and screaming. They have been throwing toilet rolls from the roof of the hotel for the past hour or so.

I'd love to say at least you get what you pay for, but we paid more than we would have for a different accommodation near by. Please avoid this dreadful hotel. Albir is wonderful, you can do so much better for less money!

I have recently returned from the Hotel Rober Palas after a 10 day stay. Well the place is basic and not a modern hotel at all. The plus points for this hotel was it's location, close to the beach, shops/bars and resturants. Another bonus and a credit to the hotel was Jamie who works on reception who was helpful and had great knowledge, et al.

The remainder of the staff were ok and the room was always cleaned to a good standard.

Thankfully only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast seemed to have a good range, however quality was quite poor.

We lost three days use of the hotel due to a 'school party' arriving who were nothing short of a nightmare, extremely ill mannered, out of control and I am loathed to say feral. We were kept awake until 3am with them running up and down the hallways. However, they where unsupervised whilst their teachers were getting tanked up at a local bar. It was basically a take over of the hotel and it's facilities, including the pool. No response from complaints to the management - pretty much a suck it up buttercup and no smile!

The beds were awful, basically a horrible uncomfortable camp bed at best. Oh yeh, you can get into Benidorm easily /rolls eyes - but seriously it is even easier to get into Altea which is a beautiful town and well worth the time to explore and still quite Spanish on the whole. Also people with mobility problems please be careful around the pool - the faux au natural stone effect is uneven and a potential trippibg hazard.

Cheap is all I can say - but definately not cheerful. No ta from me for a returned visit!

Yes this hotel is cheap, but it ain't cheerful

Although the staff were just about ok, except for the guy on reception with a Manchester accent, who was fantastic, the hotel is pretty basic, and the breakfast just about edible. Also the beds are damned uncomfortable, though the room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels provided. The main issue with this 'hotel' is they accept bookings for school parties. One of these were a group of at least 30 school boys from Madrid, and their teachers who let them run wild. The boys were banging on doors, shouting in the corridors and overtook the pool area. We saw the teachers in a local bar rotten drunk and falling over. Having complained to the reception staff, they reported there was nothing they could do, but the manager was going to sort it out. This didn't happen and we had 3 days of staying away from the hotel as late as we could to avoid this group. Knowing that the hotel are happy to get bums on beds, regardless of the chaos this causes, and the manager refusing to manage, we would never return to this place.

Room tip: The rooms are basic and ours had no balcony, and those with either faced the road, or the pool area, which could be very, very noisy.
