My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. We were very glad that we had made the right choice. This was the first time we went to Tanzania and we had done quite a bit of research about travelling in this country before we started booking hotels and tours etc. We found out that it was quite difficult to book everything just through the Internet. We were luckily to find Eileen's which did not only provide lodging but the owner, Allen Mnyenye, also owns a safaris tours company and he himself is a seasoned tour guide with over 23 years experience.

During our stay at Eileen's, we used it as a base for our safaris tours to the surrounding national parks such as Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and even the southern part of the Serengeti National Park. We had 4 consecutive day tour for safaris without changing lodges which was definitely a plus that we just did not like to do all those packing and unpacking our luggage after a full day safaris. So the location of Eileen's was perfect for our purpose. Eileen's was located in Karatu on a highland as compared with Arusha, so it was nice and cool after sunset even at summer time.

The setting of this lodge was very nice with lots of trees, shrubs and gardens among the bungalows. It even had a swimming pool and many other fun activities for kids. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. It certainly provided a relaxing and comfortable environment for their guests.

The restaurant was spacious and provide marvelous breakfasts and meals. Even their picnic lunch boxes for day tours were delicious and healthy. They had even made a big birthday cake and performed a very special native dance and song at the end of dinner on my wife's birthday. Many thanks to their super Chef, Godbless, and staff. The staff here were all well trained and very friendly.

As a whole, it was very good value for money. Our stay at Eileen's together with our safaris tours had been very pleasant and it was a marvelous experience much better than we expected.

We were a family of four (with one four year old boy) visiting Ngorongoro crater after Christmas in 2013. We wanted an accommodation ideal for a family, and close enough to the crater so that we can check in early at the gate and be in the crater before the midday sun (best time to see wildlife). The convenience of staying overnight in Karatu also meant that we were able to drive comfortably from Arusha, take a tour of Manyara National park, had adequate time to vie the rift valley and then proceed to Karatu before dark.

Having passed Karatu numerous times on business trips, we could not believe there could be such an amazing and children friendly place to stay at Eileen's Trees Inn. Allen the owner of the Hotel was very helpful. He organised a guide for us, as we were driving in our own vehicle to the crater. He also organised and paid for the smart card needed to clear entry at the gates.

We had booked a family room which was excellent with three beds and and a fourth bed in an extended room. We arrived in late afternoon, which means the children had enough time to kill their time pleasantly in the swimming pool. Hot water in the bedroom (a must for wildlife safaris) is assured and the food was great in the evening. Godbless the Chief cook was even there to sing the famous Ngorongoro hakuna matata song while we ate with a group of other tourists.
Eileen's Trees Inn has a very good internet connection through VSAT and wifi connectivity, which means we were able to attend to business matters and communicate back home easily.

The whole organisation of our trip was seamlessly organised, Breakfast and the lunchboxes were ready early in the morning by the time we left and so was the guide who was very knowledgeable of every hairpin bend and locations on where to see the wildlife in the crater.

When you check in at Eileen's Trees Inn, expect to meet very friendly staff who will always be there to assist you and make sure you have a comfortable and memorable tour of the Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, or Lake Manyara National Park.

And if you are planning to visit the Northern circuit tourist locations of Ngorongoro, Serengeti or Manyara National park, consider staying overnight in Karatu, and if possible at Eileen's Trees Inn instead of driving all the way from Arusha (and miss the wildlife because you will get into the crater in late morning or close to noon). it’s among the best accommodations near the Ngorongoro crater that will offer you great value for your money, with convenient access to the Ngorongoro crater.

Room Tip: Rooms behind the main entrance, and beond the swimming pool offer a better scenery.

We were part of a safari when we spent two separate nights at Eileen's, one before Ngorongoro and one after Serengeti (on the way back to Arusha through Marnyara). We were actually here with Allen, a safari guide, who with his wife owns the hotel.

The rooms were very spacious and the staff was very welcoming. After a long day of driving, we sat at the bar and enjoyed relaxing. At the time we were there, the electricity was coming in and out, but this is not something that we did not expect traveling through Tanzania.

I hope that I make it back to Eileen's again someday, maybe when we're back it wont be too cold to go out for a swim in the pool!

We spent two different nights at this hotel and both of them were perfect. The first night we had a triple room with our daughter, and we had plenty of room. The beds were perfect. We sat by their pool and drank ice cold African beers and we were served fresh hot peanuts too! The hotel was under some construction, but due to the fact they don't have power tools, it was not an issue with us and we are excited that they are expanding. The food was wonderful and the folks at this hotel were very friendly and accomodating. E-Trip Africa set this hotel up for us and we were very pleased.

Excellent accommodation, excellent food; excellent staff; excellent service. This was a great stop-off for our safari to Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Park. Lovely to have a good quality hot shower and to be greeted on arrival with a glass of fruit juice. God Bless takes time to chat with his guests and the whole staff are extremely friendly. The food is amazing! Eileen's Trees is highly recommended. Asante sana!

It was wonderful to be met by the staff as we drove in after a long day on safari with a cold glass of fruit juice. The rooms were large with plenty of mosquito netting. The bathroom was large with a huge walk in shower with predictable water temperature. Food in the restaurant was tasty, comfort food. Again, nice after a long, hot dusty day of driving bumpy roads and safari. The grounds were lovely and well kept.
