A great choice in Karatu. Rooms are huge and clean with a very good hot shower. The food is excellent and prepared by a chef who is clearly proud of what he is cooking, and rightly so. It has a nice bar with reasonably-priced drinks and the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here during a 3-day safari including Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Lovely little lodge, good food and friendly service. Excellent value for those doing the traditional safari loop and recommended for friends and family groups. I can also say after a day on safari, Eileen's had one of the best showers I had in Tanzania - lots of hot water and enough water pressure to wash off the trail dust! I would definitely stay here again and enjoyed it very much.

We were a group of 12 on a three day trip covering Ngorongoro,Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park and we stayed at Eileen's for a night.
When we reached Eileen's late afternoon we were welcomed with a refreshingly cool & delicious welcome drink and warm smiles . The importance of that ,can be appreciated by those who have traveled for long under the hot african sun & are 'butt' weary !!
We quickly completed the checkin formalities and turned to the archway leading to the staying quarters. It was like entering Neverland ( well more or less:-).
The property boasts of a swimming pool,a small but well maintained garden and independent dwellings . The rooms were immaculate and the beds large and welcoming .The staff were more than helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible . We had a great family time at the pool which was one of the highlights of our entire trip .The food was a turning point in my assesment of African cuisine . We Indians generally have a great affinity for spicy food and this was a hindrance in my limited experience with the food here in Tanzania ,where spices are sparingly used in food .However at Eileens , I found that African food and that too vegetarian food can be interesting, nay ,savory even without too much use of the spices .
You may also choose to buy a few souvenir hand weaved baskets from local women who have taken a place near the lobby . This was a particular hit among the ladies in our group .

Our only regret was that we had just one evening to enjoy this place as we were scheduled to leave the following morning .
An overall excellent stay !!

Room Tip: You couldnt go wrong with any choice here!!

Allen, the friendly owner of Eileen´s Inn, literally saved our life when we were cast away with no more cash left in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in January this year. We have been running out of bucks because we didn´t know that the Ngorongoro Park Administration and most of the middle class hotels in Tanzania don´t accept Credit Cards. Out there we also failed to find an ATM what accepted our European Maestro cards. Right on the phone Allen invited us to come even without the cash needed and just asked us to pay the room as soon fresh money can be withdrawed.

Together with my wife we have been travelling around Lake Victoria for three weeks. Starting in Kenya we passed Uganda and Rwanda and headed to the Serengeti/Ngorongoro area in Tanzania.

Among a lot of different accommodations on our route Eileen´s definitely was our mutual favorite - not only because of the friendly staff and the warm welcome but also the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. From the road Ngorongoro-Arusha Eileen´s is a bit tricky to find although it sits just 500 yards south of the main road at the hilly edge of Karatu. This actually proved to be a big plus because the small but generously designed tourist paradise is really calm.

All the facilities and our room we met clean and well maintained. We very much liked the pool terrace and the style of the restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. This is just the perfect ground to relax after an adventurous travel through Eastern Africa. We just loved this place so much and although we needed to follow a strict schedule in order to catch our flight we spontaneoulsy decided to stay one more day.

We spent two nights at Eileen's Trees Inn and loved it! It was pretty, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The owner Allen, is a really nice guy and so helpful in every way. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome. I would recommend this inn to anyone staying in the Karatu area. We also ate several dinners there and enjoyed the variety of food. If we ever find ourselves in the area again we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

This is a delightful place to stay in karatu. We just returned from a great tour with the owner, Allen Tanzania Safaris, and stayed there two nights. The lodging was pleasant with nice linens, towels and even flowers on the beds. The grounds are a little haven of flowers and trees with a nice pool. The staff was friendly and very capable. We enjoyed delcious meals there with homemade bread daily.

Room Tip: We only saw two rooms but they all were pleasant and we sat outside the room on the patio for evenin...

We stayed here one night while on safari. The room was large and clean and drinking water was provided. The bathroom was quite large with an enclosed shower with actual water pressure and plenty of hot water. (none of these qualities are a given for hotels under $100 in Tanzania). The grounds are lovely, with plenty of flowers. Dinner, served buffet style at a set time was plentiful and good. Service was friendly. We left early in the morning, and it's a pity we didn't get more time there to enjoy the place. I can't comment on the swimming pool, because we didn't use it and we didn't look at it until after dark.
