“A must!”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

My husband , my two teenaged girls and I had the most wonderful stay at the Sacha Lodge. It was so perfectly organised!!!!They think of everything! The rooms are very comfortable and even have a safe and a dry box!!! The food was great and our excursions breathtaking!! We learned alot about the rainforest and had great fun and spectacular views on the canopy bird walk ( one of the only self-standing suspension canopy walkways in the world!). The girls really enjoyed fishing for piranhas and loved the great BBQ! We could have sat in the canoes all day just enjoying!! We will miss 'Hairy' - the tarantula, who liked to visit our balcony. The girls (originally afraid of spiders) just loved him - or was it a her? A dip in the beautiful lake is heaven after the jungle hikes!!!All in all a fabulous trip!!!!!

Just returned from an extremely special spot in Ecuador. Sacha Lodge is perhaps one of the most magical places I have ever seen. I think my experience there might be my favorite journey ever. Sacha Lodge is very remote, difficult to get to and totally worth the extensive travel involved. Staff at Sacha are extremely professional and incredibly detail oriented. They do not miss a thing. What I enjoyed most was simply being away from everything and learning so much. Five days of exquisite beauty that are filled to the brim with physical challenges and educational insights. This is an excellent destination for children too. I actually met my 24 year old son there and he suddenly turned 9 years old again full of wonder and delight surrounding the profound beauty and awe of nature. Every day brought new sensory experiences. Begin the day with a perfect breakfast at 6 and in your wooden canoe by 7. Paddle out through the mist over the serene lake and begin your Amazon experience. Enjoy exotic birds, caimans, monkeys, butterflies, flowers and trees from your dreams. Hike and enjoy learning about plants in the jungle and their medicinal purposes. Return to the lodge and swim in the cool, clear lake and a have a communal lunch. After resting for 2 hours, begin your next adventure which might involve a hike, a climb, a visit to an exquisite tree house high in the sky or pretend you are a bird on the canopy walk. I am not a huge fan of heights but none of these sky hikes bothered me at all. Everything is safe and extremely well-maintained. Come back to the lodge tired, enjoy a hot shower and an amazing dinner with new friends. Perhaps you have a night hike or a night canoe ride with additional discoveries beyond your wildest dreams. Fall into bed exhausted and enjoy the sounds of the night symphony of Sacha with tree frogs and lightning bugs and other assorted sounds. This is a top notch eco-lodge that is highly organized. We had two fantastic guides; Gus and Pancho who deepened our experience well beyond our expectations. Keep in mind, this is not the Four Seasons. You will get dirty, messy, hot and tired. You will be covered in bug spray and sunscreen and you will be so happy about it. In our group of 3, none of us had any insect bites or any real problems. One night, I had some stomach trouble and the chef prepared some special tea of oregano and onion and I was magically better in the morning. I cannot say one negative thing about Sacha Lodge except how very sad I was to leave.

Room Tip: Rooms 9 and 10 are remote and lovely. You can see monkeys from the rear deck.

An amazing experience brought to life by knowledgeable guides and fabulous service. Hard to beat. Arrival was magical a dug out canoe and short walk leading to breathtaking views of the lake and the lodge itself. Meals were always delicious with much thought to the tempting menus.
Sad to leave!

We chose this lodge based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. From meeting the staff at the airport in Quito to our return to Quito - everything ran like a well-oiled machine.
We were met by staff at the airport who provided our tickets and assisted with our check-in. Our "Sacha Lodge" tags on our carry-on allowed us to meet up with other guests as we waited for our flight. After identifying our luggage at the airport - we saw it again when it was delivered to our cabin at the lodge. Upon arrival in Coco we were taken to a building where we were given life jackets and snacks and had the opportunity to use washrooms. We walked down to the dock and boarded the boat for a two-hour trip on the river. After disembarking the boat we had a chance to use washroom facilities again before a 20-minute walk through the jungle mainly on a board walk. We then had a short canoe ride to the lodge, where we were greeted with a welcome drink and snacks before being assigned to our cabins. After our meeting with our guide we picked up our rubber boots and our group went on a short canoe ride on the lake before dinner. After dinner we went on a jungle night walk. All meals at the lodge were buffet style and excellent, with lots of choices. We had many early mornings at the lodge - which someone from the staff would come by and knock on our door as a wake-up call. I would often arrive at breakfast before the official time - to enjoy a coffee - food was always out and coffee ready at least 20 minutes ahead of the first breakfast time.
We always had at least two activities each day with our guides. There was a naturalist guide and a local guide with each group. The group sizes were 4-8 guests. The guides were amazing in finding birds, insects, flowers and other animals for us to see. We went on several canoe trips and walks through the jungle as well as climbed the kapok tower and did the kanopy walk.
Some of the board walks used on our walks were in need of repair, which made the treks challenging and slippery in some areas.
The entire trip was an awesome adventure and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Since we were with our group for all adventures and meals - having wonderful group members also made the trip very enjoyable.

Everything at Sacha runs like a Swiss watch. Your trip will be organized for you down to the last detail with your interests and input taken into account. The activities (hiking (day and night), canoeing, parrot salt licks, suspension bridge, Kapoc tower, piranha fishing and much more) were filled with rainforest flora and fauna. We saw monkeys, toucans, tanagers, agutis, sloths, owls, bats, poison dart frogs, caiman, piranhas and yes an ANACONDA!! Our guides were to thank for this great experience. You will be paired with a naturalist guide and a native guide. Both were incredibly knowledgeable and experts at what they do. Rafa was our naturalist guide. His passion for the rainforest was apparent and made our trip a wonderful learning experience. Sergio was our native guide and could spot the tiniest hummingbird in dense jungle flora AND talk to it. Food was delicious and plentiful as well. Cabanas were clean, comfortable and perfect for relaxing. The lagoon swimming was a great way to end the day. I am saving up to go back again!

I loved everything about my stay at Sacha Lodge--the beautiful Amazon with its incredible animals, the extremely knowledgeable guides, the rooms with back porches and a hammock, the delicious meals...I could go on and on. Be prepared to fall in love with the rainforest as you view it by foot, by canoe, at the top of the 40 meter platform built around a kapok tree, or from the sky bridge stretched between three towers. Sacha Lodge makes everything so easy for you. They meet you at your departure aiport, again at Coca, and then transfer you by boat 2 hours away from civilization. Our guide worked at 3 different Ecuadorian Amazon lodges, and he said Sacha was his favorite--if the guides love it, you definitely will too!
