Michelle and Gary are great hosts and their hostal/hotel Casa Blanca is one of the best in Tena! It is very nicely located, tucked away in a safe neighborhood in Tena right near a brand new park and only a 10 minute walk from the center of Tena. It is clean and comfortable at a good price. Gary is a guide who lived in Indiana (go Hoosiers!) and speaks English, Michelle is from the USA. If you stay at their hotel they can give you tours, packages, etc which can be really nice since there are so many companies out there (some that are not trustworthy). Overall I had a great stay!

Room tip: ask for one with a balcony/patio!

We have been four weeks in this place and really enjoyed it. For Ecuador this place is really high standard with nice furniture, modern bathroom and good construction. And at a good price. The place is best for people who like it more quiet, ambitious party people should look for another place.
In the kitchen you find everything you need and there is even free dinking water. The whole water of the house runs through several filters, so that you could even drink the water of the tab or shower ;-)
It is incredible how the owners cared about us. When you arrive you get a lot of really useful information, collected by the owners. It is not just some tourist stuff, but a great list with the best stores, restaurants and markets in Tena. Including map where to find it and the opening hours... just perfect.
About 5 minutes to walk you reach a brandnew park that is just amazing. It has jogging way and a lot of fields for football, basketball, tennis that can be used for free.
In Tena is everything clouse, you need to walk just 2 minutes to a main street where many taxis drive all day.
The owners speak English and Spanish.
I suppose Tena is one of the most secure places in Ecuador. You can walk around alone, even at night. And you don´t need to be scared all the time during the day that somebody could steal you.
Thank you for the great time there!

We LOVE this hotel! Here are some of the many awesome things about it:
- Purified water coming out of the taps
- Free washer and dryer
- Great wifi - probably the fastest we had on our entire one-month trip to Ecuador
- Discount if you book a tour with Gary -- and Gary's Tours are so great that you really should book a tour with him whether you stay at this hotel or not!
- Helped us with all kinds of other questions about traveling in Ecuador, they even scheduled a shuttle to Quito for us for a good price
- They help navigate Tena by providing a map and a list of recommended places to eat
- Large cooking/eating area
- Breakfast for the low price of $2
- They have two adjoining rooms that accommodated our large family (me, wife, 6 young children)

Gary and Michelle really nail a lot of details, making it wonderful to stay there! Plus, they are such great people and a pleasure to deal with!

A great place to spend a few days. Very clean hostel, all water filtered before it comes into the house so you're able to drink it. Comfortable . Very hot - But hey this is the equator. There were large Electric fans in our room. Good cooking facilities. You also have the choice of a breakfast prepared by Michelle for only two dollars a head. Take advantage of the trips offered by Michelle and Gary, Gary is a very good guide and we had fun kayaking down the river. We also went on a trip with Gary that involved going on a motorised canoe for a way where we saw a woman prepare yucca and chocolate. Yummy.
