“A Daily Delight”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

I walk round this park almost every day and every time I see new things and enjoy fresh experiences. It is just the right length for a regular keep fit regime and relatively flat so there's not a lot of panting! The view across the lake is a joy in every kind of weather and time of year. The place is kept tidy and well maintained by friendly staff and volunteers. There are loads of benches and picnic tables. A good proportion of the path is solid enough for a pushchair. The toilets are clean and well looked after. This park is a brilliant example of what can be achieved with modest running costs. Yes, it's a shame the cafe closed, but it is an outdoor venue and you can always take a flask!

“a wonderful walk”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

You can find this place situated between wellingborough and northampton off the a4500.It is the best country park in the whole area with beautiful lakes, wildlife and scenery and a walk that is 3.2 miles around the lakes returning you to the car park. You also have toilets as you come into the park as well as a quaint little shop which sells cakes, drinks etc. This park is dog friendly and for some of the walk you would have to keep your pet on a lead.It is very steep in places and can get very boggy too so it is not too wheelchair friendly.(have noticed empty car parks on many occasions and still many people insist on parking out on the grass verges.....annoying!)

“Not accessible for wheelchair users”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

No flat walk ways for wheelchair users. Steep hills to lake viewing points. Lovely surrounding if you just want to sit in the car and food benches dotted about. Snack bar, accessible toilets.

“It used to be good.”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

The park looks unwelcoming and sad with the closure of the wonderful old brick indoor cafe to be replaced by an outdoor burger van. There is nowhere to sit indoors and in the warm anymore. The loss of the excellent indoor childrens play area and indoor learning area is very sad.

Note: There is nowhere to shelter or stand under cover when it rains.

The park looks like an ongoing building site with piles of rubble and temporary barriers across never finished works and holes in the ground. I am not sure why the park has rubble dumped on the disabled car parking bays? The new charges of £2-50 per visit even if you only stay for a few minutes is excessive. There should be variable parking charges for actual time parked and also for the time of year.

The on site toilets are cold and often wet inside.
The wooden picnic benches are badly burned with writing carved with knives. Not the kind of place to sit and eat food on. The picnic benches are not comfortable as the seats are too high and too close to the table.

Loose dogs run free and scare the ducks while you are feeding them and there is a lot of dog mess on the ground. Loose dogs and dog mess are an ongoing problem.

From the early evening onwards on warm summer nights there are often large parties of drunken youths playing loud music and lighting their own barbeques. The amount of glass and refuse they leave behind is not safe.

The huge change in level and distance between the lake and the only available toilets is an issue for anyone with mobility problems.

The natural park itself is small and beautiful but the facilities and the way it is managed are poor. Uninviting and unwelcoming with poor facilities.
