Description: Situated in the heart of Kilmore Quay, The Wooden House offers great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Naturally seafood is at the heart of our menu making the most of the local ingredients, however there is plenty of options on the menu to keep everyone happy from scones to steaks. We are open from 12.30pm everyday with live music on the weekends to keep you entertained until the early hours. We hope to see you soon.

Myself and my wife stayed for 2 nights B & B (8th to 10th of october) at the Wooden House Bar & restaurant in lovely Kilmore Quay. We were 'put up' in the Apartments at the back of the Bar. The room was pleasant, bright & clean and fairly well appointed. The breakfasts (full Irish) were gorgeous.

But where the Wooden House really scores (apart from good value)....is in it's staff. Every one of the staff that dealt with us....were pleasant, courteous and very friendly. From the guy serving us our breakfasts, to the bar staff & the cleaners...they were all a lovely bunch of people.

We will definitely go back there. Wooden House Bar and the staff....please take a bow!

It took us a while to go in here as it always seemed to be so quiet, I don't know why because when we did eat there it was wonderful. On the second occasion the chef had been about to leave but stayed to cook for us and Wow what a meal, the best of our holiday! beautiful freshly cooked fish and good portions. We also had delicious desserts. I hope the quiet was just because it was late season, they deserve to do really well.

Stopped in here for a meal with my mother.
The pub wasn't too busy for a Sunday.
The interior is quite nice and well laid out. Some of the lights are a bit piercing though.
The menu is extensive and there is also a specials board with several fish options being by the sea.
I chose the steak burger, chips and salad. The steak burger was a fine piece of burger and the chips were great; the "salad" was a tiny pot of coleslaw!
My mother chose the plaice with mashed potatoes, cabbage and carrots. She got extra mash for which we weren't charged.
We didn't take dessert but on the menu was a Chocolate and Guinness cake which sounded good.
After coffee and tea the bill was €31 for two mains and a tea and coffee.
The toilets were clean and stocked with essentials.
Staff were professional and courteous although not overly friendly but that's fine.
Would recommend and will return.

We had an anniversary dinner at The Wooden House and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The chef even changed my wife's special as she wanted prawns in garlic butter and not a Hoi Sin sauce.
My pan fried hake with a garlic and prawn sauce was excellent. A superb Albarino as served at the Spanish Royal Wedding @ €27 rounded off a great value dinner. All this for under €50 could not be beaten. Our waitress could not have been more helpful and we feel that the Wooden House could yet give the Saltee Chipper a run for their money. Will be back soon !!
