Le Petit Tetras
Reviewed February 25, 2014

My son and I stayed in Le Petit Tetras last week and can have few complaints and any we do have we knew about before we went. A little dreary on the inside but that is trumped by spectacular views on the outside. Wished I could speak French as the owner seemed a decent bloke but I struggled to communicate with him as his English was every bit as bad as my French. Lacked any sort of communal area which although we knew about we really did miss and as a result met very few of our fellow guests.
Half term week meant we were staying a bit further out of town than we would have liked but we always managed to grab the last ski bus back to Samoens (6pm). Taxi back each night 20 euro. One night in Sixt to avoid Taxi fare (20 minute dander up the hill) was probably a bit of a mistake as we hoped to watch the France /Wales Rugby match but couldn't find a TV! Got supplies in Samoens but did notice a small supermarket in Sixt. Skiied in the Cascades run just the once, certainly a handy way back to the Hotel, but the ski bus from Samoens was easier on the legs! Great ski area, not great apres ski, didn't ski Sixt, regret that but our last day was cut short by poor weather. All in all good accomodation for the money, clean rooms, TV worked and WIFI usually also.

Owners very accommodating- my husband and I arrived late from Geneva and the landlord sent us a text with the door code but then also got up to greet us at 11:30pm. The rooms are basic but the beds are comfortable, the showers hot (with good water pressure) and it's a nice quiet location. I might want to stay a bit closer to Samoens next time but this place is excellent value so definitely worth considering.

We booked Le Petit Tetras as a last resort having been double booked by friends in their house in Samoens. Our expectations weren't high but we were delighted with the location - right at the end of the amazing Piste les Cascades - a spectacular 14km run from the top of Flaine. Marcel the owner had recently retired so there were no longer breakfasts available, however he'd provided a new microwave, kettle and fridge in each room. The Bar de Rouget 50m down the road served simple but good food and great local beer and vin de chaud. The ski bus stopped 50m from the hotel and took us straight to the bottom of the Grand Massif lift for 0845 to catch the first bubble up to Samoens 1600. Fantastic weather and perfect snow conditions all week completed a wonderful week's skiing.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 14 which had a beautiful view of the mountains.

We had three nights skiing in Jan 2012. Lovely quiet farming location. Bit of a drive to get to Samoen for the main lifts into the Grans Massif sector, and also evening meal. Very cold but great snow. Will be returning again this year.
