This Chalet was perfect. We were a big family group with 5 under seven year olds, parents and grandparents and it was perfect for all of us. We wanted easy skiing to get the kiddies started so the limited number of slopes were just right for us at this stage and there was plenty more locally had we wanted it but the lift passes were cheap because we only needed a couple of slopes. By the end of the week, everyone who could walk had skied! Leaving only the one year old who enjoyed playing in the cosy chalet and visiting us on the slopes in the sunshine.
The chalet us very comfortable with good, wholesome food and I was catered for really well as the only veggie.
Sean and Julia could not have been better hosts: quietly friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. My seven year old said they were ‘some of the nicest adults I’ve ever met’. Praise indeed!
I has been a life time ambition of mine to ski with my grandchildren, this was suitably achieved on this holiday, organised by my two daughters and their husbands. The chalet was absolutely perfect for our group, 6 adults and 5 children (aged between 1-7).
Not too sure if Julia and Sean were quite prepared for such a tribe but they were magnificent hosts and both adults and children had a wonderful holiday. The children, as well as enjoying the snow and introduction to skiing, enjoyed the large lounge and freedom it allowed for their various pastimes, whether watching movies or playing with toys.
The local ski area was perfect for an initial introduction, and as it was a small area with a great nursery slope and a couple of chair lifts, it was great for our small team of adventurers, ages 7,5,4 & 2, 3 of which progressed to skiing unassisted and using the appropriate lifts. The added bonus was that it was half term and the area was relatively quiet with little or no queues, but just a short bus journey to Samoens would take you into the Grand Massif area, where there are endless options.
The Chalet was perfect, with four bedrooms comfortable beds and good quality linen and catering, although Sean took our breakfast order in the evening for the following morning, they were always on hand to provide whatever was required if someone changed their mind. The new addition this year is the hot tub, and although I am not a fan of them, we all made ample use of it, as we were more than confident that Sean has the maintenance of it well in hand!
All in all a great find! I have been in the industry for quite a number of years, until I retired, and Sean and Julia have got it right in this chalet, impossible to find any negatives, unless you are a party animal and are looking for late night Apres venues!
Well done Sean and Julia, we might also like to explore the area in the Summer.
A great welcome.Nothing was too much trouble. Near all the ski lifts . Homemade cake and tea and a dip in the jacuzzi when we arrived back from the mountains. The meals were delicious. I highly recommend this lovely chalet.
Sean and Julia made us feel very welcome and the evening meal on our first night set the standard for a week of delicious home cooking....Perfect for two vegetarians.
On the drive back to the chalet each afternoon the conversation would naturally turn to what will the cake be today and how much we were looking forward to dinner.
The chalet was just perfect being very warm, spacious and comfortable.
We will definitely be returning!
A traditional chalet set in a picture perfect location overlooking the pretty village of Sixt fer Cheval and surround by spectacular mountain scenery. Sean & Julia were warm and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. Nothing was too much trouble, they were so accommodating. The chalet is really well designed, very warm, well equipped, all rooms have their own bathroom. with really comfy beds, beautiful bed linen and impeccably clean. Brilliant, you won't be disappointed if you book.
This was our first visit to Le Grand Massif so Sixt Alpine Chalet was a new experience. Sean and Julia are the perfect hosts - nothing is too much trouble as Sean will advise, drive, collect and deliver at any time. Clearly an experienced "Grand Massif" man with a great sense of humour and a willingness to serve that is seldom met these days. Julia is a chef "par excellence" - never have we eaten food of this quality in a catered chalet and her cakes should win a global award. The chalet is spotless at all times and beautifully furnished. Our room was superb in every way. A 5 star + chalet at a 3 star price. A truly fantastic place to stay.
We were very well taken care of by our hosts, fabulous meals and yes Julia’s cakes must get a special mention. There is plenty of space and comfort to be able to relax in the evenings and lots of movies, satellite, games, music etc to choose from.
Staying in Sixt and getting to and from the lifts was made super easy and quick for us by Sean it couldn’t be handier. Sixt is a peaceful, unspoilt mountain village, and the elevated location of the chalet offers some truly stunning views.
Even after having visited the Grand Massif area several times before there is still so much more to come back to explore and I would definitely return to Sixt Alpine Chalet.
