If you are in the area in winter, do take the time for a visit, for a nice walk or for some cross-country skiing. You can drive all the way by car, even though the last 2 miles may be unsalted road, which actually makes for a special experience itself. The road is well cleared and levelled, so no fear, and there are several parking areas also cleared. The clear area in the middle of the cirque has walking paths as well as cross-country ski tracks that are well tracked by snow tank. And you can also take one of the cleared paths into the surrounding woods and park. At al. Time, the magnificent scenery of the cirque is all around you. And no motor noises... Fantastic. We loved our 1h walk, and enjoyed the ever changing magical snow landscape.
The chalet bar-restaurant serves nice mountain food at reasonable prices, and also has a gift shop. If you have a dog, this is one of the places where (s)he can run around in all safety, and play with the chalet owner's dogs.

Came here at the start of our holiday and just did the 90 minute circular walk which had a really good path. Spectacular views and more waterfalls than you can shake a stick at. We didn't have time to go back but next time we will for a much longer hike.

Be prepared for neck ache as you will be constantly looking sky ward at the most glorious mountainous views with several waterfalls and glaciers in late August within easy walk off the footpath. A 3 Euro entrance fee into the car park is well worth it. Plenty of parking with the parking areas, so don't fret if car park one is full. We went twice on our hols, the first to walk and the second to ride out bikes. Both visits were superb. A great cafe serving quality food mid walk, the restaurant at the start looked too much like the 'coach' destination, so we didn't go in. Tourist info on board useful but the shop closed on both visits despite claiming too be open!
If you want a family bike ride without blue/red run chaos, then this is a safe route.
If you want a more adventurous ride, follow blue 65 back to Samoens for even more stunning scenery.
If you are in the area, then this is an absolute must for one of your visits, you won't regret it!

I danced under these wonderful mountains on the 5th July 13 celebrating the blessing of my nephew and his wife. They could not have chosen a more perfect place to be.
I became part of the forever changing sky, watching rainbows in the many waterfalls, seeing mountains appear and disappear in the sky, feeling and being apart of the 8th wonder of the world.
THESE ARE NOT TO BE MISSED

This is SUCH a beautiful place! The options for scenic walks are almost limitless and everywhere you look there are beautiful views.

There is a small fee to park (about 3 Euros for a day or 5 Euros for the whole year) but there are excellent toilet/washing facilities and a nice cafe.

The mountain air is so clean and refreshing - this really is a magical place :)
