In September, we stayed at Villa Bucciano for our wedding along with 50 guests. The location was stunning, the accommodation was rustic and very comfortable, the grounds were well maintained, and the swimming pool was the icing on the cake. We had an absolutely fantastic five-night stay here. The villa far surpassed our expectations, and Alberto & Carla, our hosts, were unbelievably helpful and ensured that all the guests had a fantastic time. We would thoroughly recommend the villa whether you are staying there are a couple or as a large group. Highly recommended!!!!!

After driving from Pisa airport we arrived at the impressive gates of Villa Bucciano. Alberto met us at the top of the drive and helped us with our bags to our apartment. The apartment (Scuderia) was clean, air-conditioned, and had an incredible view of the rolling Tuscan hills.

The swimming pool is a really good size, and provided a great respite from the 35C heat. There were plenty of loungers, chairs, parasols and a couple of tables at the pool side.

The venue was the perfect setting for our wedding. The ceremony itself was held in San Miniato town hall. We then returned to the villa for prosecco and canapés in the garden. The meal was served on the first-floor terrace, and the dancing was held in the garden. There was also a courtyard where we had a BBQ one night. The weather, the setting, the food & wine, and the superb organisation by our wedding planner and Alberto & Carla made for an unforgettable experience.

Myself, my new wife and 50 of our closest family and friends travelled to Casa Vacanze Bucciano in July 2010 for our wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful time. We visited a year before for only one night and decided this was the place we wanted to get married in. We stayed here with all our frieds for one week, where we booked out all the rooms and had the place entirely to ourselves.

Before arriving we were a little worried that it might not be as nice as we had hoped. Any queries were slowly answered by the hotel manager. But once we arrived, we were absolutely delighted with the venue.

After negociating the windy road to the top of the hill we came to Bucciano. Its just over half hours drive from Pisa, so the location is ideal. Alberto (who manages the apartments with his mother Carla) met us all and showed us all to our rooms. Everyone was amazed with the place and couldn't believe the fantastic views from Bucciano.

The hotel, is really a collection of self-catering apartments, which together with some other apartments and private homes make up the hamlet of Bucciano. Its about 5 minutes to the closest shop in La Serra, and 10 minutes to the beautiful old town of San Miniato - which is fantastic to look around. A car is definately required!

We had the pool to ourselves, and some of our guests who stayed in adjoining apartments (not owed by the hotel) were free to use the pool too. As the childrens paddling pool was out of service, Alberto kindly provided armbands for the kids and additional furniture to accomodate everyone.

We had our wedding party in the little square in the centre, and it truly was way beyond our expectations.

We are back from our honeymoon and everyone who was at Bucciano is still raving about it. Alberto and Carla were fantastic, and the newly refurbished villa was available to us on the wedding day.

I can't believe more people haven't reviewed this place!! I would throughly reccomend it to anyone wanting to explore Tuscany, but wants to experience the beautiful countryside. All in all a wonderful experience that will not be forgotten by all who were there.

P.S. - You gotta try Carla's breakfasts - the best in all the places we stayed in Italy!

We stayed at Casa Vacanze Bucciano, for a wedding and had a fabulous experience.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with amazing views over the rolling, green Tuscan hills and this place is great as a venue. There are a variety of rooms (one with its own roof terrace!), which constitute apartments with a bedroom and kitchenette/dining room. There is a gorgeous little courtyard in the middle and the pool overlooks the Tuscan hills.
As we were staying for a wedding and our group took over the whole hotel, I dont think things were quite as normal - we didnt have breakfast and didnt have much to do with the hotel staff so I cant really comment on how good the service was but the people we did meet were very friendly.

There is nothing else in Bucciano - it basically is the hotel. This means the surroundings are very peaceful and a wander down though the forest will bring you out to a wonderful walk through windy, quiet roads and sleepy little villages.

However you would definitely need a car. When we were staying there was no restaurant or bar at the hotel and nothing at all within walking distance. The little hamlet of La Serra is about 5-10 mins drive but just has a takeaway pizzaria and small bar/deli that both close at around 8pm. These are in no way criticisms of the place but just so people are aware - we arrived on our first night unable to find anywhere at all to eat after 9pm. In hindsight we would have found places had we gone into San Miniato but we didnt know this at the time.

Good eating places (when we found them!) nearby are Club La Gioconda which is just through La Serra where we had beautiful pasta to start with and the most amazing Bistecca alla Fiorentina for mains. This is the local speciality and is a MUST try for any steak lover. Basically a huge T-bone steak which is shared between two, chargrilled on the outside and rare and juicy on the inside - amazing!

There are also a few places in or on the way to Ponte E Agola - La Fidelia is a little atmosphere-less inside but food is good, while Punto Pub in the village/town is good for pizza.

In San Miniato itself we tried Antico Bar which was lovely - and very reasonable.

We did day trips to Greve in Chianti and tried the wine cantine there which was great. And the Chianti countryside was amazing. We also went to San Gimignano which although very touristy was beautiful.
