We read lots reviews and wanted to make our own minds up jet 2 was amazing and the hotel the only thing wrong with this hotel is moaning people wanting something for nothing.
The food was amazing lots of choice fresh fish chicken pork beef rabbit
In uk I'm a chef the way people describe the food is not a true reflection on the quality of food anyone who moans about the food doesn't deserve to be there.
The staff are all friendly special mention to lifeguard Pedro and animation team who work tyresley to cheer up moaning brits about the food.
Try this hotel for yourself the management should be commended on a lovely clean well run hotel.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel but this time it was an all girls trip. Excellent t and quick check in but if you are a first timer ask where your room is they didn’t show us, but luckily I had an idea where they were. Rooms were clean and spacious and good views. Food was good but on the odd occasion, especially breakfast could have been a bit warmer. Staff were friendly and helpful. Didn’t really see much entertainment so can’t comment on that. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and looking at going back next year.

Having been to many resorts and hotels I had expectations of this hotel after reading the reviews. Wow I was so wrong. If your coming away for a romantic holiday with your partner this isn’t the hotel for you. It’s full of screaming kids and everything is based on the children. The evening entertainment although starts at 9.30 the kids are still everywhere. You can’t get a seat to watch anything as the families are still around with their children running riot. (I have had children myself but now grown up. therefore I have no real issue with children) but this hotel is very over run with kids.
If your wanting a romantic type stay sleeping in single beds pushed together is all you get. There is no option to sleep together as you fall down the middle and they are made up as single beds. The sheets don’t get changed the entire stay. And towels only if left on the floor. The cleaner is in and out within 10 minutes therefore cleans nothing. Never has this ever been something I’ve experienced before on holiday. Cleaners are normally so great and can’t do enough to make sure your room is clean and fresh.
Meals are simply a cattle market. Pushing shoving, moody staff clearing tables very slowly. The hot food is luke warm and becomes very boring. The lighting is the restaurant is like flood lighting no atmosphere just school dinners like on mass. Ideally if you can get outside this is best but only 40 tables restrict access. The tables are cleared so slowly there is never anywhere to sit. Or people get a bottle of wine to claim the table them whilst they get their food. It’s like inside towels! Again the outside area is lit with football type flood lights. It’s harsh and far from ambient.
Now swimming pools, it’s seems no one mentioned this before on trip advisor, Only 1 pool has heating the other one is Antarctic cold! Literally no way can you use it. The heated pool as you can imagine is fully rammed and you will never get a sunbed! The hotel states no towel reservation policy but this is not the case. So you end up around the Antarctic freezing pool as there is no other option. The hotel states 3 pools but in reality only 1 is useable heat wise, 1 is bitterly cold and the other for children only.
They have pool patrol on both pools and wow one is harsh he loves his whistle! Tells people off on a regular basis for using inflatables or touching the island in the middle of the pool.
Oh the towels you borrow for $10 euro, just to let you know you need to pay reception for them and then collect from the spa with your receipt. No one told us this so we walked around for 30 mins hunting for a towel hut.
The drinks are not what it seems all inclusive is beer, wine and soft drinks only! If you want any
spirits you have to pay. There is bar menu and literally only rum, beer and soft drinks are free. There is no cocktails either, only if you pay. Again misleading on the drinks, this is not all inclusive!
The hotel itself is very classy and immaculately clean. But after 4 nights I really wanted to go home as I had enough. Didn’t even want to go for food any longer. My holiday certainly didn’t turn out the way I wanted.

We understand that our hotel might not be the best option for your holidays, this is why we encourage you for a future occasion to visit our website or to contact our call center from where our agents will be able to offer you a personalized booking guidance to make sure you book the Barceló destination that can make all your dreams come true.

We regret your disappointment for not being able to provide you with a proper double bed during your stay however we would like to take the opportunity to point out that all rooms are advertised as having twin beds on our website, nevertheless our housekeeping team will make the beds with double sheets joining the mattresses upon request, for a future occasion please do not hesitate to contact our réception team who will assist for you to fully enjoy the comfort of your assigned room. Regarding the change of sheets, we change sheets every three days due to our environmental friendly policy, even though if you'd like to have it changed before you can always contact reception to make you petition.

We are sincerely sorry to read your dissatisfaction with the cleaning of your room, at Barceló we strive to provide total confidence in this area being fully aware that hygiene and cleanliness are aspects of major importance for our guests to feel 100% comfortable in our hotels, for a future ocasion please do not hesitate to contact our reception desk to point out any service imperfection, the team will be swift in addressing the issue and correct any situation that is not in accordance with our established standards.

On the other hand, we would like to point out that all trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future.

The photographs on this hotels website are extremely misleading. In reality, the hotel is pretty tatty. However, that was by far not the worst thing about staying here....

The food was simply terrible. We are vegetarians and unfortunately almost everything had meat or fish in it. So, on the rare occasion there was anything edible, it was either over cooked, cold or incredibly boring. Most days the only vegetarian main option was pasta with a tomato sauce that might have well have been ketchup! So, we spent most of the week living off bread and cheese. (Even the cheese was bland and rubbery)
We did speak to the staff on reception about the lack of vegetarian food and she said she would speak to the chefs but sadly nothing improved throughout the week.

Another huge disappointment was the fact that the ‘kids club’ area was being redecorated so there was no secure place for my toddler to play. However, there was a small kids room opened up next to it but after being in there for only 2 minutes, we were ushered out again and told to play outside.
There were a few footballs and older kids games scattered around outside the closed kids club but absolutely nothing for younger children.
The main reason we actually booked this hotel was because of the promise of fun things to do for our little boy... sadly, not the case.

This hotel sells itself using the ‘fact’ that it’s on the beach.... errrr, it’s not though, is it?!?
I love walking, but walking down a very steep hill on slippery pavements whilst trying not to let go of your pushchair is not my idea of fun.
I mean, come on! This hotels not even that close to the beach! There are other hotels in between this hotel and the beach, so I am amazed that there aren’t stricter rules on false advertisement, such as this.

Anyway, I could continue to go on about the low quality drinks, the grumpy staff, the banging doors throughout the nights, the queues, etc etc but hopefully you’ve got the message.... DON’T STAY HERE.

On the plus side though, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Hence my 2 stars.
The other plus about staying here, is that it makes you appreciate home a million times more.

Recently visited this hotel with 3 children aged 8 and 6. The kids club was amazing and the staff were fantastic. The kids club ran daily between 10.30 - 12.30 and 15.30 - 17.30. There were a variety of activities to keep the children entertained. The mini disco was also a massive hit with the kids as was the evening entertainment. The restaurant was designed to be family friendly and had a great variety to suit everyone. All the staff and facilities that we experienced were great, but the entertainment crew really did make this a fabulous family holiday. The only negative point is that you need to be prepared for the 1hr 45min + transfer.
