“Very nice holiday”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

I have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in Balcelo Jandia Mar, and I am really satisfied of this hotel. Hotel is really huge, so you can easily find place on the pool. Food was just delicious, and they prepare the best cocktails I have ever drink in all inclusive option! The Staff in this hotel is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are quite big and clean. We have moved to other room to upper floor, because we didn't want to be on the ground, and Staff helped us to move all luggage. The Italian restaurant, where you can eat one dinner free is also very good! The beach is just 7 minutes by walking from the hotel, and is really amazing!! You have to pay for sunbed and umbrella (set 12 euros) but it is worth it! When you will go on the beach, you will never want to stay on the hotel pool. The only problem was not much nightlife around hotel. There is one disco Tortura, but for 2 weeks is not enough. In the center you have many pubs, and restaurants, but not much people. I would rather recommend this hotel for families instead of singles who wants to enjoy not only beautiful beach but also nightlife!
I wouldn't say anything bad about this hotel, but I must. The only problem I have found in this hotel were cockroaches!!!! We have found them everywhere (except our rooms). I understand that Fuerte is very humid climate, and you can find them everywhere, but I think that it is not acceptable to find them inside hotel on the main building. We have found them in canteen, in toilet next to canteen, on the toilet next to reception, and we have seen couple of times in lobby. This is really not acceptable for me. One time, when we have returned from the beach, we have found plague of cockroaches just next to our hotel, which was really scary! We have reported the problem to the Staff, and they assured us, that they will deal with the matter, but after that, we have found again cockroaches in the main building. Fortunately we didn’t find anyone in our rooms, but we were in another building (behind pools).

Me and my Girlfriend had a fantastic week at Jandia. Food was good. Room was clean and very nice. Entertainment staff were really really good and friendly...

A few things to know if you are heading for a stay
1. Its at the top of a steep hill... Fine if you have no walking problems or had one too many
2. Windy... we had jumpers on every evening... Shame as the terrace was lovely and would have been nice to spend the evening
3. Wifi isnt cheap and you have to buy one for each device. And it logs you out a lot.
4. Buy water for fridge... None supplied
5. You cannot use the sister hotel for drinks. Shame as it was good entertainment...
6. Pool is way too cold... May have been the time of year but couldnt stay in for too long

All in all, great trip and would go back again

I am writing this as am happily waiting for our bus to pick us up and get us to the airport.

All inclusive !!!!!! Not.....I have never stayed in a all inclusive hotel and had to pay for a beach towels, a safe or Internet, this hotel just wants to get as much money from you as possible.

Food is not up to much but I must say even for the fussiest of eaters there is something to eat that's if you can be bothered to stand in the queues, there are not enough staff on to cope with the amount of people needing to be fed.

Italian restaurant..... What we thought would be a nice treat to sit in a nice relaxing atmosphere and be waited on hand and foot ....NOT avoid at all costs as my friend said the worst meal and service she has not had to pay for !! More like Fawlty Towers. We waited ten minutes before we where even acknowledged and then when the waiter had finally spoke to us we were seated, then 15 minutes went by before a drinks order was taken, then another 15 minutes before some of our drinks arrived. Your not given a choice from a menu you get what your given fish or meat !!!! The service was the worst I have ever experienced. I must say this was down to understaffing by the management.

Pool cleanliness is to be desired in all the 2 weeks I never seen the pool area moped which left the tiles all sticky and dirty. In the pool several tiles where missing which led to one of the children cutting his foot.

Entertainment was very amateur and was pretty bad.

It is safe to say that I wouldn't recommend or stay in this hotel again.

We have just returned from 10 days at the Barcelo Jandia Mar. It was our first time to Fuerteventura. We could have stopped longer. We couldnt fault the hotel at all. There was plenty of choice of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner with fresh fruit and salad always available. There was also plenty of choices of drink throughout the day and cocktails at night. The snack bar opened at 12pm where they served burgers, hotdog etc. You could never go hungry or thirsty! There were activities throughout the day but staff did not pressure you to take part if you didnt want to. We didnt see the entertainment at night but the room was always packed. The pool area was lovely and clean. If there was any litter about it was because guests could not be bothered to put their cups in the bin. Had nothing to do with the staff. There is a also a couple of shops on site and a spa with an indoor swimming pool and sauna. The Italian Restaurant is nice but make sure you book in. There was a small hill down to the beach, not as steep as people have said. It is well worth going out of the hotel the beach is just lovely. You might see the odd nudist about though! We hired sunbeds as if it was a bit windy the sand can be quite painful. The town of Jandia is really nice with a good choice of shops and cafes. There is also an English Bar. I was worried about the wind as everyone had told me how windy Jandia was. We had two windy days but it was welcome as it was just so hot. We took our 17 year old daughter with us and we had a great time and would return again. I would just say though that if you are looking for a place with lots of nightclubs till 4am then this probably isnt the place for you.

Room Tip: Just be careful what room you ask for as we had lots of steps to our room and if you have difficulty...

This is our 5th time at this hotel and it feels like our second home.

The staff are lovely and friendly and the set up of the hotel is spot on.

We have been here as a family of four and also as a couple and all the times, we wanted to stay for longer. This was our second visit this year, and if we could squeeze in a third, we would do.

When we came here in March, just the two of us, we had champagne and fruit delivered to our room with compliments of the manager, a really sweet touch.

I would recommend this hotel, location to anyone. Yes it is on a steep hill but if I can do it, anyone can! If you hire a car, which we highly recommend, then travelling around the island is breath taking and something everyone should do. Best car company to hire from is CICAR.

Room Tip: Our favourite room that we ask for and get is 146.....over looking the bottom pool, perfect.

I am back from this hotel with my partner of 4 years and it was our first time away together. We were worried at first as of the time of year we had went, it was really windy but we found in the day time it was brilliant for keeping you cool, but it can be dangerous as i learned later on in the week as i had came out with bad sunburn. The hotel staff were very helpful and did offer us aloe vera up to our room with no extra charge. They seemed to want to help with anything they could.
The main restaurant was large and sometimes in the mar the food choice wasnt all that great for my fussy partner, so if you are all inclusive you can just walk down the path to the playa, where the food choice was better. The pools where large and had plenty of sun beds with or without shade.
Nightly and daytime entertainment was brilliant and they always had something going on, in both hotels and you were allowed to come and go to each one when ever. Every night the bar staff would make up a large punch bowl cocktail for adults or children.
If anyone can tell me what type of hotels this is would be great because we loved the option of choice between the two hotels, as we are trying to find another hotel like this, as of him being fussy with food.
Brilliant holiday for all.

Recently returned from a weeks stay with my boyfriend and we had a brilliant time.

The hotel itself is lovely and clean. We had a room in block 7 which had great views of the sea and a nice size balcony. The room was cleaned daily and the staff very friendly.

Both pools were very clean. The one by the snack bar had various activities during the day, but the other large pool was nice and quiet and there is also a small shallow pool by the gym and spa which is nice. There are plenty of sun loungers and shade if you want it.

The good was great, and I'm pretty fussy. There was plenty of fresh fish, and meat which varied from pork chops, sirloin steak, lamb chops, chicken etc. there was even a BBQ, a joint of pork with cracklings, stir fry. There was always plain pasta or a pasta dish, chips, potatoes and lots of salad. Always fresh bread at every meal. The pancakes at breakfast were nice too! There was plenty of fresh fruit for the healthy option, or lots if puddings and ice cream to choose from.

The hotel is up a hill. But if your moderately fit its not an issue. We walked up it 5 times and it only took 10 minutes at the most. I even saw young children walking up the hill; so don't let it be a put off for this lovely hotel!

Mini-golf was fun. And the animations team worked hard the whole time to keep people entertained.

Would recommend this hotel.
