“Beautiful Beachside Views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2011

I cannot stress too much how beautiful the beach is in Jandia. It is a long sand covered beach with a beach cafe at one end which sells the most delicious seafood you have ever eaten. The hotel was spread out over quite a hilly area which my husband did have a little trouble with, rather than being in one building. It was very prettily layed out.with flower gardens along the paths. The rooms were nice though a little tired decoratively. Everywhere was very very clean.
We had our breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the beach which was outstanding. The evening meal was ok though not what I would usually have had at a Princess Hotel. The pools looked very nice though we spent most of our time on the lovely beach and swimming. Got a brilliant tan! The staff were lovely. We missed not having a pianist in the piano bar but they did have two pairs of singers/musicians on two evenings who were all very very good.
The only downside of the holiday was the distance from the airport which after a long day flying seemed to take forever. Didn't seem so far going back, so it can't have been that bad.
Also on the flight home we managed to purchase long legroom seats which made the flight so much better. I would love to return to this place which I do not often say after a holiday as I usually like to go somewhere new. Very peaceful.

Room Tip: We were unable to choose a room, but one overlooking the sea would be nice

I went to this hotel from 3rd September to 10th 2011.
At the arrival, the group (57 people that arrived to the hotel) should be received with a proper dinner (as we arrived before the closing time of the restaurant) but, as we were told to wait until 10:30 pm (so the staff could clean all the food) we only got cheese, ham, some bread and soup.
We complaint and after about 30 minutes of arguing with the reception, they got some fries and chicken to the children that were there.
The other con was the fact that there were no free bottles of water for the all inclusive guests... "All inclusive" should mean all inclusive, and it would be important to have free bottles of water in this case because the tap water was not good to drink, as it was desalinated sea water (it had a lot of chlorine).
Other than that, I loved it! The place was amazing; the hotel was so big that you needed a map! It had a lot of green areas, several pools, many bars and beautiful gardens.
The sea view was amazing, I guess every room could have that view (mine had) as the hotel was build on a hill.
If you go there, please try the piña colada, I ADORE it, I tried that piña colada in other canary island and became a huge fan.
If you enjoy snacks for lunch, I advise you to spend some time in the terraza bar (terraza means balcony in english) so you can eat snacks or ice creams and enjoy and amazing sea view. From 4pm to 1pm, the coco loco bar opens, it has that tropical look and it's really nice to have some cocktail there.
The rooms were clean and spacious, please note that the air conditioner just works if the glass balcony door is closed (I only found that trick 2 days before I came back) as you lock the inside glass door, the air will work again, so be careful before you leave your room if you want to have it fresh and cold when you return.
The bus stop is right outside the hotel and the ticket to the "pueblo"(city/town/village) or Jandia/ Morro Jable (city name) it's just 1.20 euro. I advise you to go, there are lot's of souvenir shops cheaper than the ones in the hotel. If you want to buy water, sun lotions or anything you need, you can go to SPAR Padilla supermarkets. There's one in Ventura Shopping( you identify it by the Barcelo hotel sign, it's down there) and one in the city. I advise you to chose the bus stop near jandia lighthouse or in cosmo shopping center (which is further but if you go back until the Jandia Lighthouse you'll see all the stores and you have a bus stop at the end of the road, which name is Avenida de Saldar) You don't need to worry about the number or bus timetables, the "guaguas" (buses) are colored yellow and blue and do the same itinerary every 30 minutes.
I advise you to see the animation night shows in the hotel, specially the mystic show, it's a black theatre, really beautiful and funny.
I would definitely go back and I loved the time I spent there, the beach was amazing, the sea breathtaking and the weather was fine too.

My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks , 27th July 11 to 10th August 11. We booked with Thomsons. No problems with flights, transfers or check in. On arrival at the hotel we were quickly allocated our rooms, which were as per our request, 2 rooms next door on an upper floor. We were informed that we colud go to the restaurant for our evening meal and that our cases would be put in our rooms. This worked well, and when we found our rooms we were pleasantly surprised. Large clean rooms, with plently of hanging space and a nice size bathroom. Our air conditioning worked very well, however the air con in our childrens room was much more 'hit and miss'. We had to report it breaking down many times to reception. The only other issue we had was our shower , it was either boiling hot/scolding water or freezing cold with normally very low water pressure.

Other than that we all had a great relaxing holiday, spending most of our time on the beautiful beach, when it wasn't too windy and you weren't being sand blasted!l We also prefered to have lunch at the beach bar, but the pizzas were OK at the hotel lunch bar. Breakfast and evening meals were fine. The staff were polite although some a little over the top. We hired a car from the lady in the hotel for a few days. Not very impressed by Jandia or Morro del Jablo but we did have a nice meal at Restaurant Leo's. (As recomended by our rep in the hotel.)

My husband and son went diving with a club called Fuerte Divers in Costa Cama, which they inform me was good diving although quite a strong under current. Other than that we spent our 2 weeks chilling out on the beach. We did have a few cloudy / drizzly days but mostly it was nice weather.

Very good location, great beach. Great ocean. Beautifull garden. Very freandly staff. Good deutsche public and many friends for kids. Perfect animation.

But absolutely complete lack of service on the beach, with the exception of staff, who collect 9 euro per umbrella. Hotel needs to be repaired. Especially swimming pools and lavatory. Strong specific smell is in the toilet. Good food, but not aesthetically beautiful served. Overfull and stuffy restaurant. If you'd like to struggle for the plates and cans — it is your place. And one world about room service. Charwomen are very nett and careful. But they can come to clean up at 7 p.m. or when your children are slipping.

Anyway, it was not the worst vacation. My family was pleased on the whole.

Flew with thomas cook, arrived promptly and was awaited by the thompson reps in their droves, who showed us to the coaches promptly. Comfortable journey to the hotel, and the receptionists all worked hard to get us to our rooms quickly. One woman having a rather unecessary rude hissy fit at the receptionist (poor man), was all that kept us waiting! was told by our travel agent that there were no interconnecting rooms, but this was not the case, and we had one which was a bonus! One room had good air con, the other a little less powerful but it did the job. rooms are huge, beds are huge and comfy, has a sofa and so much storgae, bath and shower in everybathroom which is great! Beautiful view of the pool, and the sea. Maid service was good, and left chocs on the pillow every day. We did tip her.
Fridge worked and the shop sells 2litre bottles for 1 euro which is cheap so buy them. We took travel kettle and cups as no facilities in room, it does state that in brochures so not sure why some people have complained about that on here?? do they not read?? Food fab, huge selection morning (we went to la choza overlooking sea) and in the main buffet dining room in evening! Dont understand why some have stated there wasnt enough selection I certainly dont provide such a huge spread for my family everyday and im sure they dont either!!
Had fun with the staff, all lovely, especially Miguel, Juan and Edwin, who also used to banter with my teenagers and make them laugh. Pool clean, cold but you do love it when it reaches 35 and upwards...and it will!! The hotelmaintenance staff are whitewashing, mending tiles, fixing, clearing leaves...it doesnt stop.
Considering it doesnt seem to close down, they do very well to maintain with little or no disturbance to the guests. Pat on the back to them for sure! Yes there may be the odd broken tile on the floor, or step, but really never bothered us, and the staff were onto it in seconds, i dont know how they maintain it so well. Its the guests that are so lazy, i was amazed how some people just chuck their rubbish on the ground or behind a bush, there are enough bins!
yes the sunbed thing a little bit of an issue, and im afraid you do need to get there quick and reserve your bed, even though people arent sposed to, they do! it seems that way all over the world unfortunatley... if you cant beat them you must join them or lose out!!
.Beach lovely, sunbeds 9eu for 2, felt this was a bit pricey, BUT they are not owned by hotel, just take a towel and lie on them....much cheaper! people lovely staff lovely, and we would definatley revisit!
