The hotel was clean and the staff and service were very good but there are a few drawbacks.
It takes 15 minutes down the hill through the grounds to get on the beach. The gardens between the accommodation blocks are very attractive.
There is no privacy on the balconies on all the rooms in all blocks - they only have partial lattice dividers which means that you can see along all the balconies on your floor level. We had a 3rd floor superior room in the main block. Smoking is allowed on the balconies and we ended up being next to 'chain' smokers which spoilt our use of the balcony. The walls are not solid so you could hear your neighbours and the corridor was permanently like being in a wind tunnel.
The food was generally very good but not always hot and sometimes undercooked from the chefs hotplates.
If you are all inclusive you will find that the food becomes a bit repetitive.

Recently back home from a 10 day all inclusive holiday at the occidental jandia playa. We celebrated my husband's 70th birthday we were upgraded and welcomed by cava and chocolates. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, room very clean, serviced daily, food acceptable always something to suit our taste, location perfect. Thank you, hope to return in the future

We stayed here as a couple for 2 weeks (end of Feb to Beginning of March). We had a pretty awful time.

On arrival many items in the room were broken & some dangerous (TV remote, Hairdryer, wall mounted mirror, fridge door, etc). Maintenance of the room was incredibly poor. I called reception two days running. They said they would send someone, but nobody came to our room. By the end of the second day I emailed our travel company & as if by magic maintenance turned up the following morning to fix everything.

We woke on our 8th day to an awful smell. I checked the bathroom & there was raw sewage coming up through the bath plug. I called reception, who told me they would send someone straight out. An hour later we were still waiting. So my partner went to speak to reception. The Male receptionist called maintenance, but didn’t want to move us to a new room. It was only when my partner argued that I am pregnant & it wasn’t safe that they said we could move.

It took them 7hrs to get us into a new room. Which meant we had to sit around the hotel, having not had a shower or been able to brush our teeth for 7hrs. Not one person apologised or said “sorry”. There was no upgrade or consolations. Plus the Male receptionist was rude & arrogant towards me, because I clearly looked fed up about the whole situation. So thanks for your nonexistent customer service & thanks for wasting a whole day for us! Waking up to raw sewage was pretty memorable too!

Room ‘Caca’ was room 2009, incase you’re wondering.

The food was dreadful & tasteless. Most of it had clearly been frozen & reheated. Half the time the food was Luke warm. We ate out for the whole of the second week.

The WiFi is only available in the main reception.

Bar staff were overworked & understaffed.

One of the cleaners decided to help themselves to food that we had bought from the spar shop.

The pool bar was closed for maintenance, but nobody was working on it at any point over the two weeks.

This is not a 4 star hotel. Please don’t waste your money on this place. There are much better hotels on the island. The customer service is appalling. Treat yourself & go elsewhere!

We are really sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the experience in our hotel to the fullest as we strive to make each stay with us an unforgettable one. Discussions involving the respective team members and management have taken place to review your comments, and we would like to assure you that all of your concerns will be addressed and attended to.

We do apologize for the technical problems you encountered; there are absolutely no excuses for details to be overlooked as all rooms should be thoroughly checked on a daily basis. We will make sure that the procedure is being reinforced. However, we do not seem to find records that our staff had been made aware of that while staying with us; naturally we would have changed you to another room.

We apologize for any smells that emanated from the pipes and affected your stay. These smells are not a regular occurrence and tend to be caused by external factors that sometimes affect the hotel and nearby buildings during certain months, which is why the Maintenance Department checks the pipes periodically.

Please accept our sincerest apologies if our staff disappointed you in any way. Our aim is to treat guests kindly, so they feel at home.

We are sorry that apparently you have not been informed about our Guest service, how is available 5 days a week to help with any issues our gust could have.
We are sorry to read that our buffet offer did not meet your expectations in terms of flavor, our professional Chefs strive to impress our guests with high standards and the possibility to savor the best of our local cuisine as well as a great selection of international delights. However, as we receive guests of all nationalities and ages, we try not to over spice the dishes in order to please all palates, for this reason there is a wide spice station included in our buffet for our guests to help themselves and season their dishes to their liking. All trays of our buffets are being constantly checked by our kitchen staff to ensure that the temperature of the food is adequate and that all options are being replenished throughout all services, nevertheless please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the team so as to avoid receiving this kind of feedback in the future.
Our Wifi is available in the all the facilities and in the room, we would like to recommend for the next occasion to contact with the reception to inform for any technical problems.

We sincerely lament your exceptional experience when staying among us and would like to take the opportunity to clarify that in the event of having a guest reporting a theft in the room, our staff is fully aware of the procedures to undertake, unfortunately we have no reports about your case, lastly we also would like to reassure you on the fact that none of our maids would ever put their job at risk by taking any belonging of our guests.

Please be assured that your comments will be taken into serious consideration and that they will help us to improve our services. Stayed 9th to 16th March. Island did not live up to its name of the windy island instead for 6 out of the 7 days it was a gentle breeze which was most welcoming in the sunshine. The beach is a fabulous space if you wish to be on your own or join the throngs around the very long foreshore. On our penultimate day a load of jelly fish were washed up but they seemed pretty innocuous.
Had a reasonable hike from our room to the main dining area but was not a problem. Cleaners turned up everyday and did whatever was asked of them. Food was somewhat repetitive but could always find something to eat, We came for the sun at the end of the day. Room worked well as did the ensuite only dislike was the mattress cover which was thick and crinkled and disturbed my sleep as well as made me sweat a lot. The snack bar was good as were the selection of wines for all inclusive and the rum which we drank copious amounts of with fresh orange juice. The hotel was in winter mode so not all facilities were available. All in all we had a good time and would go back again due to the location. Somewhat miffed however to now receive adds for same place, all inclusive for much less than we paid when we booked last August!

We have just returned from our last minute holiday- family of 3 ( 2 adults and 3 years old child).
We went for all inclusive and can't complain- good food, snacks and selection of soft drinks, wines, beer, spirits etc.
We liked the tropical and well kept garden and amazing beach!
Our room was very specious, cleaned daily, bottled water in the fridge. we have received a cot bed, kettle and selection of tees and coffees free of charge.
5 star customer service in the main restaurant and snack bar. They all worked very hard and mostly with a big smile and ready to help.
I would like to mention Alex from Barcy Kids Club. Well done and thank you for keeping our child happy and entertained! Great job!
She is a big treasure.
Overall a good hotel with a great customer service.
