We (husband and I) spent two nights here. We have been coming with our family for ten years and staying in the Munlochy Bay area in a cottage. This was our first time without the 'family' and we decided to stay at The Anderson instead of just having a meal there. I was really enchanted with the room we stayed in - quirky and charming. The food was delicious in the restaurant, I had possibly the best scallops I have ever tasted in a Scottish restaurant.
The bar has a vast array of beers and whiskies to try. My husband loved this.
The staff were all lovely and helpful. I would highly recommend every aspect of this lovely hotel.
However do not expect the facilities of some of the larger chains - no internet and very patchy mobile reception - but personally I welcomed this.

Room Tip: We were in Room 1, above the bar, but hardly an issue as we heard little noise.

Stepping into The Anderson for the first time is like entering the Old Curiosity Shop, full of little treasures, the Inn itself is one big treasure. Room 4 offers a great nights sleep (the traffic below is unavoidable but hardly noticable) and was clean and tidy if not a wee bit tired. The bar is something else!! 250+ whiskies and 80+ belgian beers set in such quirky surroundings makes for a great night. The staff are wonderful and can recommend a beer or whisky to suit every preference-personally I found the raspberry beer on draught delicious. The restaurant menu was of a standard matched with the best of them, the haddock tartlet and brie with poached pear starters and ravioli with truffle and sirloin steak mains was cooked to perfection. Breakfast served in the atmospheric lounge was the icing on the cake, shall be back!

My first visit to the Highlands couldn't have started better than with a couple of days' stay at this delightful place. Jim and Anne are very welcoming, and Anne's cooking is hard to beat. The Anderson's a great place to begin your exploration of the Highlands. And you can relax with a wee dram in the whiskey bar in the evenings, with a wood-burning stove to warm your aching muscles. I'd definitely go back.

Room Tip: Be aware that the EE mobile signal is pretty poor/non-existent inside the building. But there's free wi-fi so it's not too much of an issue.

A belated review but for excellent and unusual eating thIs is hard to beat anywhere ne'er mind in Northeast Scotland.AN eclectic generously priced wine list compliments it all to say nothing of the whiskey and beer......the rooms are adequate but not expensive and the breakfasts splendid all presided over by JIms magisterial approach to pretty well everything
Not to be missed

It would not be a complete visit to Scotland's Black Isle without our visit (usually for one or two nights) to The Anderson. It is hard to say whether we go for the food or for the overall friendly atmosphere. Food is ALWAYS great. We love both dining areas, the dining room and the whiskey bar. If you are not a fan of whiskey or beer they have quite a good wine list. The owner is well versed on the area as well as his food and drinks so we bring our friends who live in the area there for dinner when we are there. Jim, the owner, is most accommodating. It is easy to feel at home in The Anderson! We look forward to our next visit.
