Ate here when staying up the road in Rosemarkie. Tasty food, great ale, excellent service and friendly locals. Will be back!

“Still the best around”
Reviewed March 21, 2014 via mobile

Where are all you trip advisors?Ever time I go to The Anderson (and I'm there more than I like to admit) I see plenty of people I know, but I seem to be the only one who bothers to sing the praises of my quirky local. There is something new on the menu, but don't get rid if the chicken wings! For me, the Anderson is perfect for a special occasion or just meeting up with my mates for a couple of strawberry beers and that new Philly cheese steak. Best go hungry.

“Consistent quality, excellent service and good fun”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

My wife and I always stay a night in the Anderson en route North (and sometimes South). We love the bespoke rooms, the craic with Jim and his staff and I am actually in love with his wife ('s cooking), Anne. I am always excited about what will be on as there are some unusual twists on the locally-sourced fayre. However, the beef tournedos are always a treat. Jim knows his beer like no man can and it is always fun to try and stay upright after 2 or 3 of his Belgian concoctions. This is what a restaurant and bar should offer - an experience. For me, this is pound-for-pound one of the best small hotels in Scotland.

“Lunchtime booking”
Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

Appalled that a booking made by phone from Joburg, and confirmed in writing as long ago as November, was not honoured on New Year's Day. No apology and no concern as to where visitors to the country would find an alternative lunch venue on a public holiday. Dreadful:(

Gee, Linda, I have your email right here and it clearly requests a table for 2 at 7:00pm on New Year's Day.

And when you didn't turn up for your table it was in fact you -- not The Anderson -- who did not honour the booking.

Considering that we have not served lunch since 2003, it looks like someone got her plans mixed up and decided to go Trip Advisor on us!

A note to TA users: kindly check your facts and give the establishment a chance to explain a situation before getting on your computer and raving to the Internet.

“Traditional”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

A very traditional Scottish pub serving traditional Scottish fare. Nice and cosy, stocked with lots of whiskeys, Nd the food was delicious. Recommend eating here while you are touring the area
