Third time in Cala Galdana for me, first time in Alta Galdana apartments. We visited in the third week of October, so almost the end of the season, and as a result the apartment price was a real bargain - so good in fact that we are still pinching ourselves! The view from our apartment was outstanding - we could see the whole bay - and the rooftop terrace was a lovely place to chill out. The apartment was very basic but well equipped and clean and the complex is small and nestled into the hillside. Location is good - a short walk to the beachfront but far enough away from everything to be nice and quiet. Only downside are the beds - fine for me as I am light, but my partner is heavier and needs a firm mattress. However it wasn't too much of a problem and certainly didn't spoil our stay - we intend to go back as it's such good low-season value. Marcos, the manager is a really nice guy too, by the way - really helpful.

Having stayed in Cala Galdana on four other occasions ( twice in Flora Mar, once Sol Gavilanes and once in a villa), after four years away we decided to return.
We found Flora Mar very noisy and didn't like being woken up by the maids every morning wanting to clean the room, which wasn't dirty. Hated the regimental nature of the Sol Gavilanes, and found the villa too big and expensive for the two of us. So we looked around for some thing else. We were on the verge of booking a villa in Binisafau, but again could'nt justify the cost for the two of us. So having read the reviews on trip advisor we made a last minute desicion to book the Alta Galdana.
On arrival we were booked in by Marco, the Manager with no fuss at all, he's a very laid back manager which relaxed us from the start.
We had requested a room with a roof terrace which was ready even though we had arrived earlier than the check in time. On entering the room we were a little disappointed as the room looked dark and dingy, but as soon as we opened the balcony doors and traditional green shutters, the light flooded in and changed the whole feel of the apartment. the rooms are very basic but spotlessly clean and we were able to relax in no time.
The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate. The beds firm but comfortable. We have stayed in much bettter class accommodation but the beds have been much worse than these were.
All in all it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. Totally relaxing, maids no bother at all!
The views from the roof terrace were outstanding. Also the dreaded steps mentioned by other reviewers, again no problem, there must be some really un fit reviewers.
For the money, unbeatable. We will be returning next year for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a roof terrace with a view if you are a couple.

We stayed here as we were being a little careful due to other expensive commitments this year. We did not have any real problems with the hill climb from the beach to these apartments; however, as we had one of the top floor apartments overlooking the beach, the extra steps added their own special touch on hot sweaty days. If your carry too much weight, your going to struggle. We were greeted by Marcos, the manager, as we arrived and he was polite and helpful.
The apartment itself opened out directly into the kitchen/dining/living room area. A table with four chairs and a couch all looking out via the quad balcony doors over the beach. The kitchen had a four ring halogen hob, microwave oven, fridge with small but adequate freezer compartment, toaster and electric kettle.
A small corridor led to the bathroom and two bedrooms at the rear of the apartment. The bedrooms are basic, yet adequate with storage and hangers for clothes etc being supplied. A small safe was located in one of the bedrooms, the key for this costing 15 euro's plus a refundable 5 euro's on return of the key.
Disappointingly though: the ceiling fans located in both bedrooms and over the dining table, do not make up for the lack of AC, given the temperature experienced during our stay; also, our apartment was equipped with a roof terrace, accessed via leaving the apartment through the front door and carrying on upstairs; the bathroom was unbelievably hot most of the time, so no dilly dallying whilst your in there.
We were lucky enough to have had reasonably quiet neighbors during our stay; although, in the block behind ours some rather unruly children could be heard quite clearly at all ours. Noise was not a major issue but light sleepers beware.
Unfortunately, we did not get chance to eat at the "Sa Luna"; however it must be said that the staff were always polite and very attentive as we passed by. The food seemed very fried in my opinion, clearly though, the full tables every night must count for something.
Overall, nicely located with access to three restaurants, two car hire and two supermarkets within 2 minutes walk. Great views from the right apartments and a nice little pool if you have young children.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 with views over the beach, room 8 was next door with similar views.

Superb location with stunning views over the bay and the pleasant riverside marina.
The Alta Galdana manager, Marcos, couldn't do enough to help.
Pedro in the adjacent La Lluna restaurant was also very good and helpful, although we twice enjoyed the food and service at the excellent restaurant just up the hill (other side of street) too, Meson Murciano. Highly recommended.
Parking is hit and miss, but always got somewhere, and the only drawback was the steps...even the youngest and fittest would slow down in the summer heat to make it up to room A2, the best one of all.
The climb was well worthwhile though as the view was truly 'breathtaking'.
Our two bedroom apartment was clean and comfortable with spectacular views over the resort and beach from both the 'French-style' balcony and the private sun terrace on the roof, (use your beach umbrella up there however, as the heat is intense).
Cooking facilities included a microwave, toaster and stove which were more than adequate.
The maid changed the towels twice on our week but didn't clean the apartment.
The Hotel Audax on the corner (bottom of hill) has nightly free entertainment and an excellent house white wine as well!
There's also evening cabaret at the Cala Galdana Hotel so there's always something to do outside of the wonderful beach.
Worth walking to the far side though as much less crowded and also means 'passing' Toni's restaurant and bar, where we spent several long, luxurious lunch times with great service and food.
Top notch all round - we will be back!

Room Tip: A2 is the best room of all with stunning views but requires inter-breeding with a mountain goat to reach

Just returned from our third trip to these apartments. Great budget apartments, definitely not for anyone who doesn't like steps (lots of them), but shouldn't be a problem for most people. Marcos the Manager, as brilliant as ever. Pedro the owner of a fantastic restaurant, Sa Lluna, next to the apartments, as entertaining as usual. Quiet Spanish resort, with some lovely restaurants and a fantastic beach. Together with these apartments, a great family holiday. We WILL be back! Travelled with two children aged 7 and 9, enough to keep them entertained.
