“Very nice place to stay.”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

We spent one night at the Cheetah Lodge but wished we had been able to stay longer. Eloise is a wonderful hostess, the room was very good and the food, especially dinner, was excellent. The lodge is charming and the gardens are lovely to relax in with beautiful plants, birds and the friendly dogs. It's close to the de Wildt cheetah centre which is well worth a visit. We very much hope to return one day.

Eloise, as manager and hostess of the Cheetah Lodge, has brought a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to the Cheetah Lodge. Being well situated near the de Wildt Cheetah Centre made it a convenient stopover, but we really enjoyed the meals, the garden, the birds, Sebastian the Dalmatian and the attention to detail. This was a lovely guesthouse at which to stay and nothing was too much trouble for Eloise. She knows a lot about the area and can answer most questions. If you love birds, well worth the visit too.

Eloise has a comfortable and friendly hotel - ideally situated for the Ann van Dijk Cheetah Centre (via dirt roads - allow 12-20 minutes if you're not used to them). Not far from Lanseria Airport and well-placed for other visits in the Hartebeesport area.

Excellent breakfasts and friendly dogs (who seemed to remember us from the warmth of our reception).

Very friendly Staff, good food and a splendid garden. For the moment the Lodge has no Alcohol license so it is recommended to bring your own Wine if you want to enjoy some with your Dinner. Breakfast is generous an fresh. This is a good place to stay if you want to visit the Ann van Dyk Cheetah center which is just next door (10' drive by car)

One of the highlights of our holiday in South Africa. This magnificent stone building with its extensive garden is in a secure location and is well worth the drive off the main road. We stayed in the upstairs club room with a balcony and splendid views. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. Eloise was a charming host and the meals were generous and delicious. Two gorgeous dogs (a boerboel and dalmation) added to the security. Lots of space to sit and relax with many interesting books and magazines on offer. The drive to the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre took us about 20 minutes in a small rental car, most of it along a bumpy, dirt road, so allow sufficient time to get to the cheetah run. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Entrance no. 18 from the main road takes you along a bumpy, dirt road and it seems a long way, but k...

This lodge is a bit far off the road. Off the main paved road you will follow a dirt road winding up a hill. The grounds have security and lodge is surrounded by very nice gardens. There is a chapel on the property.

The main shared areas are big and open with many books of African travel, animals, and history. There is coffee, tea, and an honor bar on the main floor. There are two big and starving for attention dogs on the property for protection and for great company. They are not allowed in the lodge and will follow you dutifully anywhere you go on the property.

The rooms are basic and cozy. The style is dated but comfortable. There is no tv or no real extra outlets for any electronics to charge.

The staff are very helpful and warm. The host and atmosphere of this lodge make it a very nice place to stay.

The Ann Van Dyke center is just down the road and is a 10 minute drive by car.

We stayed at the Cheetah lodge for one night. Fantastic room and a beautiful garden. Enjoyed the company of the labrador very much. A wonderful host and a great dinner and breakfast.
The visit to the Cheetah Center was a bit expensive (private tour) but an unforgettable experience led by a very entertaining and profession guide.
