Toyoko Inn, as a chain, offers a similar acommodation in their hotels and this one is also a great budget hotel - breakfast included. The rooms are bigger than the standard Japanese budget hotels, and very comfortable. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

Turns out I was here a bit more than a year ago. It was very good and it is very good -- with understanding... This is a business hotel. It is a cheap hotel -- with great price performance. Rooms are rather (typically) small. Breakfast is changing every day, but it is limited number of items. The things that are there "always" are -- rice and miso soup.
Rooms are clean and well kept.

It is close to bus station and train station.

Note -- rooms are unavailable between 10:00 -- 15:00 for cleaning. You should be OUT somewhere doing something then.

Room tip: TOP FLOOR -- you will get to the elevator easier

A short walk from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station. The Haikara and Akabe tourist loop buses depart from the bus parking lot right in front of the train station, which takes care of transport within the city centre; the railway lines will take care of longer-distance travel.

Typical Toyoko Inn rooms - small, clean, well-maintained. They’ve got old-fashioned key locks here (not the card readers at newer branches) so you’ll need to surrender the key at reception every time you step out. Check-in is at 1500 for loyalty club members (1600 otherwise); they’ll keep your luggage before that and also after check-out.

Just one lift. Expect to wait a wee bit at peak times (especially around breakfast and morning check-out).

Simple breakfast buffet (mostly Japanese dishes) from 0630. Some Toyoko Inn branches start a little ahead of the stated service time (Sendai #1 for example), but not here: on my second morning the kitchen staff were still rushing to put out trays of food even as the guests had begun to help themselves at the appointed hour.

Given my managed expectations for the service and facilities (this is a budget business hotel after all, not a luxury property), I’ll be happy to stay again. The location, in particular, makes this a great choice for sightseeing.

It's a basic, clean, business hotel, but if you're staying more than one day, you need to understand that their rules mean you have to be out of the hotel from 10:00am to 4:00pm while their cleaning staff does whatever they do. It doesn't matter wether it's snowing or raining. The front desk staff are idiots and clearly the have zero idea of taking care of customers.

Room tip: Don't stay here.

We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel and could not fault it.
Whilst little or no English was spoken communication was fine, with check in and out very fast and efficient. We had a larger room on the 11th floor with views that were great.
The hotel is about a two minute walk from the railway station (where local buses terminate) and virtually next door to the bus depot, for longer distance travel.
Like many towns in Japan they don't really have an epicentre, being spread out over an area. This was not really a problem as we were able to get about on foot, by hire bicycle or buses during the day.
As with all Toyoko Inns, breakfast was included and varied each day. It was typical Japanese fare, which included fish one morning that was fantastic.
Highly recommended.
