“Value for money”

We stayed at The Wessex Hotel in Street, Somerset, for a weekend break. We had a twin room, very comfortable, especially the beds. Fresh towels every day. Tea and coffee making facilities, trousers press, iron and ironing board and tv. We stayed BB and evening meal. Breakfasts had everything you wanted, including a full English. Evening meal, 3 courses with a choice. The food was good, vegetables always fresh. There is a bar, very comfortable, the service however is slow in the bar, mainly because of minimum staff. I would stay at this Hotel again.

We were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews. This Hotel was very good, nice big rooms, well furnished, nice bathroom and good T.V. Any concerns were dealt with at once. Food was nicely prepared and hot, staff were efficient and friendly. Only fly in the ointment was we were charged £6.25p for a 187ml bottle of white wine, this retails at 2bottles for £3 in Tesco. When a shocked Stan pointed this out he was told brusquely 'well you're not in Tesco now!'

went on a self drive holiday in july we had a very nice room at the front of the hotel good service room cleaned every day coffee and tea replaced every day the staff where very friendly and helpful we had some entertainment most nights only one problem with the room we had was being on the front it tended to be noisy would ask for a room at the back next time the hotel was in a good position for the clarks shopping village which is ideal for the shopaholics could certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: would ask for a room at the back for less traffic noise

I stayed at this hotel for a short weekend break in July. We stayed on half board and in advance I asked the hotel to provide me with a low floor room with walk in shower as I have mobility issues. They did just as I asked and the room was very comfortable and spacious. The whole experience was value for money and would recommend the hotel as being centrally situated for all the immediate attractions (seaside, Bath, Wells, Glastonbury etc).

Room Tip: We stayed in room 112 which was spacious, clean and had a good view of the countryside. The walk in...

I stayed there over night on the 17th of July with my partner who is working in Street. Overall really good. Nice room, plenty of space and a lovely bathroom. They had provided a fan in the room as it was hot and the breakfast was very nice. Ignore the bad reviews. Its a two minute walk in to town, the staff were really friendly, its good value and clean.

Having worked here over 30 years ago, I was pleased to get a good deal; it was once one of the best 3* hotels in Somerset.
How disappointing it was! the mattress was very uncomfortable; the decor downstairs is tired; it hasn't been properly cleaned in years (the carpet behind the reception desk is the same one I stood on in 1977!); breakfast took 35 minutes and they got the order wrong (the 'tea' was dreadful when it finally arrived).
The list could go on.
It needs a huge cash injection, but it is difficult to see how it would be recouped with so much local competition.

Room Tip: rooms in other hotels are better
