Just back from a very enjoyable stay at Qala. Ate at Ta' Vestru 3 times and had great food every time at very reasonable prices. Mainly Italian based dishes but especially enjoyed the ones with the local twist e.g. the salad with Gozitan peppered cheese, the pasta with capers, olives and sun-dried tomatoes and the pizza with the fried potatoes and anchovies. My husband raved about the depth of flavour in his lamb dish. Also enjoyed the very affordable local wines which were delicious. Only problem was the size of the portions which meant we were usually too full for dessert! However, tried the Sicilian cassata on our last night and again, it was delicious. The setting is rustic and not at all formal but the stone walls and wooden beams added to it's appeal for us, and you can also sit outside at the edge of the square. Small and family run but service was good and our waitress was welcoming and helpful when we asked about local produce. Our experience was entirely positive and we're only sorry we're not close enough to be regulars. I would definitely recommend this.
