“What a find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

This is a hotel that would not suit everybody...but we loved it. It's got character and it's own church on the first floor. Some people would say it looks tired and needs re-furnishing but we thought it added to its charm. It was built 300 years ago for a cardinal. The staff have definitely got the right attitude...nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Tonina, Alicia and Sylvia for making our stay memorable. No need to eat anywhere else...at the time of writing it is 15 euro for evening meal and it was excellent home cooked food. It's a 20 minute drive from Ciampino airport 5 minutes walk from the train station...opposite a beautiful park, a short walk up to Ariccia to buy the famous Porchetta. Visit Lake Albano, Nemi, Frascati and the Villa D'Este in Tivoli if you have time. We will definitely stay there again. Speriamo.

Great villa with good food , outstanding Wine for 6 Euros a bottle, great town, but TOO far outside of Rome if you are planning on commuting. It's easy an hour drive.
THe view is terrific as I had a room with a terrace shared by another room and the view of Rome was spectacular.

  • Liked — Great view from the terrace and the GREAT adjacent town
  • Disliked — The LONG commut to Rome

The hotel is central to the town of Albano which is typical Italian (we didn't see another English person in 3 days!). The hotel is simple but clean and our room had a great view right to the coast, it's set in it's own gardens and is right next to bus stops. Albano also has a nice lake which is just 2 stops away by train.

The best way to get to Rome is by the train (10 mins walk) they run every hour and the cost is 1.60 Euro's. This train also stops a Ciampino station which has a airport bus - only 1 euro- a far cheaper way than getting a taxi to Albano.

If you want to stay in a typical Italian town in a typical Italian hotel with easy access to Rome then this is for you.
