“Great staff can not make up for a terrible property...”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and an overall rating of 3.5 we decided to stay at Sejours & Affaires Rive Gauche in Serris for our trip to Disneyland Paris. We stayed at this property for 3 nights in mid October and unfortunately we couldn’t wait to leave. The only positives for our stay were the professional and courteous front desk staff and the proximity to Disneyland Paris.

We wanted to try and like this lodging facility and worked with the front desk to try and fix the issues but in the end the rooms simply never got any better. The front desk staff tried but could not overcome the facility which is in our opinion is broken down and in disrepair. I’m not sure what hotels are like across Europe however we stayed in two other facilities during our trip to Europe and neither of the other two were anywhere near this level of disrepair.

There was mold in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen areas of both rooms we stayed in. The living and bedroom area glass doors and windows have no locking mechanisms – even on the ground floor. WiFi connectivity and speed were sporadic at best in both of our rooms; and to be quite honest pretty much nonexistent in our 2nd room. The closet sliding doors and kitchen door dragged on the floor in our first room. The fridge and freezer doors were broken which prevented any real type of door storage or good freezing capability. We found 3rd party hair in our towels, sheets and on the walls in both rooms. Our 2nd room soap provided by the hotel also had somebody's hair on it.

We did have a dish towel in our first room but no sponge to wash dishes with. There were cob webs in most corners & along the ceiling in both rooms we were in. The toilet seat in our 2nd room was broken and came completely off the toilet when lifted. Not sure how this was missed when cleaning was performed. The shower curtain in the first room didn’t even go the full length of the tub and was too long which caused one to step on it while trying to take a shower. The 2nd room we stayed in had been recently painted on a single bedroom wall which caused the whole place to smell of paint. Unfortunately we didn’t fully realize this until our return from Disney when we walked in the room and were hit with the paint fumes. Really wish the staff would have informed us of this fact. Both rooms had a plethora of marks, nicks, smudges and hairs that made you realize that not only did the room not look clean – it simply wasn’t clean.

We understood going into this stay that the facility was rated as a 2 star facility however there is a level of expectation even at 2 stars and this facility didn’t in our opinion even come close. As budget travelers my family and I have stayed at many 1-2 star hotels and I have to say this particular lodging facility rates in the top 3 of worst my family and I have ever stayed in. Given the experience and condition of the multiple rooms we stayed in I could not and would not stay here again nor could I recommend it to any of my family and friends.

Final notes:

*As others have noted the front desk staffs primary language is of course French however all the ones we worked with spoke at least broken English and with some patience and a little effort we were able to effectively communicate with each other without any issues.

*One should be aware that there is a high school across the street from this hotel. We had a minor incident with some of the kids on our arrival as they presumable made us the punchline for one of their jokes.

*There is no front desk staff or maintenance on site 24/7 so if you encounter an issue later in the evening or arrive after hours you are stuck with your issue until they arrive in the morning. It would also appear that mainenance does not keep the same hours as the front desk staff.

We booked this hotel for after our stay in EuroDisney - to be able to reach central Paris on the train before we left for home. Nice, clean hotel with on street and booked parking available. One stop on the train from Disneyland Paris and near to local amenities. About 40 minutes on the train to central Paris with a regular train service.
It is a great bargain however I am not sure it is suitable for families as the windows did not have locks on them so we couldn't have them open and the hotel was very warm!

The other downsides are minor- broken shelves in the fridge so no where to store drinks upright, noisy pipes, marks on the carpet and no handle on the big pot!
The sofa bed was the comfiest I have ever slept on and all the linen, crockery etc was clean and modern. So overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend the hotel.

Well we could not complain at all about these apartments. Extremely clean, the kitchen and bathroom looked absolutely brand new. Fluffy towels, nice bed linned. Small but perfectly formed! (we only had a studio). Lovely touches like free slippers and toiletries and tea/coffee pack. Also the price worked out at around £48 per night which for the Disney area must be unbeatable. Great location near to shopping mall with plenty of eateries (French and the more familiar McD's)! Free bus from nearby (opposite Hotel Elysee, by entrance to the Shopping Mall).

We stayed for one night following a 3 night stay at the Hotel New York and liked having some time at the Val D'Europe area for shopping but still easy access into Disney. Would certainly stay again and am almost reluctant to put such a good review on in case I can't get availability next time I want to stay!

Just back from a four night stay there. No complaints from us ,2a and 1c,
Arrived and were quickly checked in. We had a 1bedroom apt on the corner of the building, so the living area was very light and airy.Double bed in the bedroom, fully sprung sofa-bed in living area, both very comfortable. The kitchen is small, microwave, fridge and 2 ring hob, but they did all work, however the rings on the hob weren't the quickest.Bathroom had toilet, bath with shower, and sink. Free WiFi worked very well, and the flatscreen TV had a DVD player, so take a few DVDs for the evening. The apartment was very clean throughout.
The previous review says that the area is seedy, this is just not true. It is situated opposite a school and is in the same building as a surgical centre and the street itself is a clean tree-lined avenue which leads directly to a large shopping centre, bustop and train station. Using the train, we were 20mins from leaving our room and arriving at the entrance to Disneyland, the actual entrance past security.
Within 10mins there is every kind of eaterie from Pizza Hut, McD's etc, upwards, so something to suit every budget, and with a large Auchan, self catering is possible. If you are on a budget and want a seperate room for children, you wont go far wrong with this.

Room Tip: Move the coffee table, kept tripping over it.

Dirty, no facilities like a kettle or microwave that actually works. Rude staff, stinks of cigarettes, paper thin walls. Any review that is positive must be drink induced. Lights just tripped out whilst trying to heat food on the hob. Area is seedy and expensive to eat out. Don't be tempted by the price, pay a little more and avoid this trash.

We were skeptical when we booked this due to the fact that it was 2*. However, i feel that is was perfect for us. We were only using it as a resting place due to going into Disney Land on the train every day (cheap train fare). The apartment's are not too bad at all. The bed's were comfy and it had all you needed. The were a few downsides for me though. One was that there was no kettle! That can be worked around though by boiling water on the hob. Another thing was that the shower didn't seem to work as well, but that might just be me doing it wrong! Internet was also a big dodgy, even though they specify its free residence wifi. It is only a short 2 min walk to the town center with all the shops, hyper market and train station. Therefore, if you are planning to visit Paris/Disney Land then I would definitely recommend this hotel for families who are looking at a cheaper alternative to staying in a Disney hotel! As the title says, it does the job!

Room Tip: Only the 1st floor have balcony's, and that is only if the room is at the rear of the hotel

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days for Disneyland Paris! We have been to the area before but not this particular hotel. It was perfect location, as round the corner opposite hotel élysées, there was a free shuttle to the parks and back which was a lot easier than paying for trains! And with it being round the corner to val d'europe shopping centre we had access to food, etc for the room!
The room itself wasn't your glamorous type but just an average room, which was ideal for a trip where you dont spend a lot of time in there anyway, had a good kitchenette, fridge, microwave, etc! It didn't have air con, and it was warm however the windows open very wide and has a fly net over the window too so it was fine!
Overall, we loved our little holiday, and everything was what we needed in a trip :)
