Beautiful B&B in calm environment, not far from major chateaus in the Loire. Friendly host, who recommended restaurants within walking distance. This was convenient for our designated drivers who love drinking wine! We had a great stay.

I booked the Lievre d'Or as a stopover on our way back to the UK on a motorbike trip, and I could not have made a better choice.

Upon arrival we we warmly greeted by our hosts, M and Mme Larcher with a glass of rosé wine. M Larcher had thoughtfully even provided small pieces of flat wood so our bike stands would not sink into the ground.

The logis is actually a family home with an annexe attached for guests, this is all new and very nicely appointed with an excellent shower, TV and a small living room attached (shared between two bedrooms) with a bigger tv and a fridge. There is good, free wifi.

The swimming pool is set in a small but very nice garden - towels are provided.

Breakfast was continental, excellent with plenty of it - croissants, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, orange juice and coffee.

The logis is situated a few minutes walk from the main road that passes through Montbazon and is very peaceful. There are several nice places to eat there - my favourite being the restaurant next to river by the camping site because of its setting and lively atmosphere. If returning after dark I'd recommend taking a torch (or using the torch app on your phone) as street lighting is patchy at best.

This was a delightful random find, and I will definitely be staying there again and doing some exploring of the region - there is plenty to see and do, castles and chateaux and the tomb of Richard the Lionheart is not far away and well worth a visit.
