We stayed here for just one night on our way to Eurotunnel, so we did not have time to get a real feel for the place or area. We had a good welcome from Alex and he had booked dinner for us at a local restaurant which was not too far away. It is a very rural and a little rustic place to stay, we had a good nights sleep the room was spacious and clean with a good bathroom (excellent shower). We had a good breakfast with a lovely boiled egg from the resident chickens. We would use it as a stopover again as its close to the tunnel. It was very peaceful after a long drive from the south in high season.

Thanks Alex

Only spent one night here in August 2013 on our way back to England but had a wonderful time. The accommodation is all set in a renovated French farmhouse which looks amazing from the outside but all of the rooms are decorated in an African style with an open plan layout and bright colours as well as pieces from Africa giving the rooms a unique twist. All of the facilities in the room were excellent with on suite bathroom and a comfortable bed.
In the morning breakfast was provided in the dining room just outside of our room this consisted of traditional french croissants/ pain au pain au chocolat, coffee, tea, fruit juice and locally sourced jams which were delicious and eggs which were laid by the chickens owned by the owner ! pretty much everything you would expect and it was all delicious!
The alex Factory was very nice in all aspects but where I found it to shine was in the setting which is in the middle of the French countryside, it was simply beautiful with fields and farms all around add to this the farm animals wandering the grounds (chickens, ducks, goats, donkey's) it gave the accommodation a unique and welcoming character unlike anything I've experienced before.
I have already agreed to go back with my Girlfriend and hope this will be soon!

Stayed at the new Alex Factory for three nights at the end of July having previously stayed at the original Alex Factory a few years ago. It was the longest break we have had without children for quite a while and we found our stay at the Alex factory complete bliss. We arrived from normal life at what seemed 100mph and left with a feeling of inner peace, which the seductive pace of the Alex factory where nature surround yout, plays a big part. We used to watch the ducks (three of them) and chickens(two tribes) after a day touring Pas De Calais sitting in the garden with a glass of wine enjoying the views, and felt completely at home. Our room was absolutely perfect with an individually designed bathroom which was a triumph of thoughtful design and functionality as well as so relaxing to use. We found the breakfast to be a masterpiece of fresh local produce served with absolute discretion and completely in tune with the country retreat ethos of the Alex Factory. Alex is a perfect host, on hand if required, and completely unobtrusive otherwise.
We eat twice locally at the neighbouring Ferme de Verte where there is a family connection and Alex guests are treated to a complementary kir Royale before enjoying beautifully cooked seasonal food at tremendously good value prices. The crème brulee is to die for and the fish main course one of the nicest I have eaten in a long time. The coast (10/15 mins away) depending on which beach you prefer and we swam most days is a huge attractive draw, but the countryside around Wierre Effroy in any direction is picture perfect french countryside. We ventured to Boulogne, Montrieul sur mer and St Omer but left feeling we could have spent another week and couldn’t wait to come back, the proximity to the Chunnel make this as easy to get to as Dorset, Somerset, Suffolk, Wales etc . We bought some local cheese, supplied by Alex and produced at the Ferme de Verte where they make a range of local cheeses, delicious………..

Room Tip: slow down they are all good - ours was the ground floor

Spent 4 days here in June on a trip to Orleans. Had the most wonderful time, beautiful food, accommodation and company provided by the host Alex. Really felt at 'home away from home' and are already planning our next trip back there. Beautiful locally produced eggs, cheese & pate are served with amazing attention to detail. Thank you Alex!

We were supposed to stay here 3 nights, but because we loved our stay that much we ended up staying a little longer. As we have a young girl (she loved the donkey's, the chicken and the sheep and a baby boy it was very relaxing for us. While they where sleeping, we had the possibility to have lunch or dinner. We could hear our children if needed. Alex is a very relaxing host and he knows a lot about the region and we loooved the family made cheese and home made jam. At one time we even brought our 'fruits de mer' and ate it while our kids where sleeping.
We will certainly come back here as it wasn't that far away from home. By the way, it wasn't a typical french breakfast but a delicous morning treat
