This was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Alaska. We stayed a couple of nights in Chitina and had planned on riding our motorcycles to McCarthy. At the last minute we discovered there was no gas in Chitina so we found ourselves looking for other alternatives. We could not get in touch with the shuttle so on the advise of the owner of the B&B we called Wrangell Mountain Air. It was 8:00 am and they had two seats available for the 9:05 flights and seats for the afternoon return. In our haste to get to the airport I missed the turnoff and we were 10 minutes late getting to the airport, but to our surprise the planes were just finishing loading. It was a beautiful clear morning and the flights were so smooth. The pilots were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate us and to inform us of all the sights to see along the way. The DNR was also flying that morning counting sheep so we were able to communicate with them and spot several sheep that we might not of seen otherwise. Seeing the mountains, rivers an glaciers from the air added another totally different perspective to the trip. We will definitely do this again when we return to Alaska.
