Stayed at Breezes Panama for 10 days in January 2010 and decided to upgrade to a beachfront suite. First and foremost, paying the extra to upgrade to the suite was a great idea, we walked out on the patio and the beach was right there.

Pros: New facility, room was extremely large (especially for a resort), pools were very well kept, ocean water was very good considering it's the Pacific (high and low tide are drastically different), bar service was excellent (especially poolside bartender, Walter), buffet food varied from day-to-day, housekeeping was EXCELLENT!!!!! and room was thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis to high standards, excellent strip of beach to walk on and a short walk will produce being able to see the locals fishing and a small "village" directly off the beach.

Cons: the restaurants weren't all that good (being it was only open 3-3.5 months when we arrived, we figured they just haven't found their niche), Italian restaurant service was extremely poor, limited use of palapas on beach (you need to be up around 4-5AM to put something under one of them to reserve it, as they are usually all gone no later then 5AM), about a 1.5-2 hour drive from Panama Intl Airport.

We went on two tours while at the resort: Panama Canal tour of two lockes and visiting the local Indian tribe. Both tours were excellent, but if you don't like longer drives I wouldn't recommend either. The tour of the Canal was great as we were able to see some US/Panama history right before our eyes. The second tour was also good, but it did take a while to get to our destination. The visit to the waterfall on this tour is fun, but many people struggled with part of the hike as you had to climb up and down wet rocks to get to the falls.

Overall, the trip was a great success and the one thing I would highly recommend is paying the extra money for the Beachfront Suite!!!!

Accomodation: this hotel is new, everything is sparkling clean. Our room had a comfortable king size bed and great ocean view. Room service, although provided daily, is not very thorough.

Location: this hotel is 1.5 hours aways from the airport, and coupled with a 6 hours flight, it took us the whole day to get there. But they have a guide in each bus who will entertain you throughout the long drive, making it very pleasant.

Food: Cristian, the chef at Taboga restaurant (the buffet restaurant) was amazing. Our son has gluten allergies, and the chef cooked his food separately every time we requested. They can accomodate almost any food allergies, just ask. Their foods are always fresh, and the variety is good. The servers are very attentive and friendly (we loved Juan and Maria Jose!).

Beach: do not go to Breezes hoping to find the beautiful waters and beaches you find in the Carribean. The sand is black mixed with beige, and the Pacific has strong waves with a strong undertow. During our 7 days stay, we only went into the ocean once (4 days out of 7 the flag was red). But we enjoyed long walks on the beach.

Pool: they have beautiful pools and a swim bar. Lifeguards on duty 12-6 pm. Lots of chaise longs and umbrellas and shade everywhere, not to mention the great variety of drinks.

Water sports: since the waves were always strong and the red flag out most of the time, they refused to take out the sail boats/ kayaks etc. We were disappointed.

Trips: they offer a good variety of trips to Panama City, Canal, Embera Tribe village etc through their Adentura 2000 company (located in the resort).

Entertainment: You could never find out what's going on at night. We hoped they will have something at least in the weekend, but nothing happened.

All in all, it was an interesting experience, our first time at the Pacific Ocean and in Central America. Panama is a new touristic destination and although they have to learn more, this is a promising resort.

Arrived 3 pm saturday 28th August 2010, there was no room available, front desk attendant informed having no record of our booking into the system, giving the impression that it was not reported by Pesantez, travel agent in Panama who booked us. They offered us a "hospitality room" "until a real room was available" we found it ridiculous for a less than 24 hours stay ( check in 3 pm check out 12:00 mid-day the following day), we had to leave our luggage with our group friends. 5 pm we returned to the front desk, they gave us a key for a "hospitality room" we were tired, we took the key, the room door could not be opened, went back to the front desk, attendants were talking among themselves, one said (in spanish) the room we had booked was not "premium" although charges were same as our group friends. at 6:00 pm we still had no room, they decided to give us the 1712 after a loud discussion at the reception. It was all a mess. The night dinner was not better, we attended the Sushi Bar, when finiished, my wife tripped over the stairs, as you walk down the last right stair level to the side walk is higher than the left side, my wife was stepping down on the right side; two young hotel visitors aided her on the floor, the paramedics attended. The stairs at this restaurant as other we saw giving access to the bed rooms, are certainly not friendly. It was a nightmare. The reason why I am making this public is because I could not find any one to talk or write to a the Hotel, manager email for complaint is a well kept secret.

the place is beautiful and very clean, drinks are strong and the beach is beautiful. however, the included non-motorized water sports (sailing especially) are perpetually unavailable and nobody cares. on the other hand, if you want to pay 80$ for half an hour on a jetski, they'd let you go out in a hurricane. watch out for the tours, they do not tell you when certain activities are unavailable or about mistakes in their brochures. nobody seems to care about that either. we found the food at the buffet exceeded expectations and the à la carte restaurants are alright, but the japanese one may have made the weaker stomachs quite upset. it is definitely worth the price though, the entertainment and bar staff are great, and if you're goal is to spend time with a special someone, it suits the purpose. just don't expect much in the way of organized activities or water sports.

Been to Other Breezes and this was by far the most disappointed one as for as service and food. Never really changed the menu on the buffet and the two restaurants weren't the best either. As far as service always seemed to have to ask for a refill on coffee or wine. When leaving no service as far as coming to room for luggage or when I came downstairs offered to help carry or load.

Spent 3 nights at this resort. Perfect for relaxing. It does not have much of a nightlife. If that is important to you, then this is not the place. They do have a nice lobby with piano/bar for relaxing in the evenings. The best frozen margaritas are at the lobby/bar. We enjoyed the restaurants very much. We overheard others complaining, but we were pleased. The staff is okay. Some more accommodating than others. I personally did not care much for the buffet restaurant (mandatory the first night) as it is impossible to get dinner reservations late in the day. The dinner reservation process is as follows: get up early and form a line (reminds me of the Decameron). I have yet to figure out the point of this. This is a vacation, you want to sleep late. The beach is nice, the water is warm and great waves to play in. Service at the beach is exceptional! My tip is to “tip”. The rooms and bath are spacious and everything is still pretty new. Grounds are nice and the pool area is beautiful. My only caution is to beware of your room selection. Some of the rooms are facing ugly construction. I would not hesitate to return to this resort. It is a great place to get away and relax.

I am not one to normally leave reviews but i am very disappointed with my whole experience! The start of our trip began with the airport transfer that i had already been charged for NOT showing up to get us from the airport! We waited around for about a half an hour, then gave in and paid ANOTHER $100+ for a taxi to take us...very annoying!
The chek-in process went smoothly and the girls working the desk were very nice, so we thought this might be pretty cool afterall...then came the rest.
The room was really nice, however they are building another hotel thats right next door so the construction was a bit noisy at times. The buffet had some pretty good food with a variety of options...I am a vegetarian and was able to find lots of options. It was nice getting up in the mornings knowing that we could just walk downstairs and have food available. That being said, make sure you know the hours of the restaurants because we came back from a walk one day and were very hungry but were unable to get any food because it was during the "in-between" times, kind of a bummer. The actual restaurants onsite had pretty decent food, if you could get in. LISTEN UP The only way you will ever get dinner reservations is if you get up at 7AM to get in line to choose your time and place! It sucked! Sleeping in (or at least past 645AM!) is something that i consider a luxury while on vacation and we didn't get to sleep in one single day! Also, the floors in the whole place are tile which is nice, but sound carries like crazy! The doors in all the rooms SLAM shut and shake the walls because there is no slowing device or anything....woke me up tons of times every night. There was even one night when they had LOUD music and a guy on the microphone until 11PM that was louder inside our room than our TV! It was some kid thing and it was very frustrating....good luck getting any sleep if you are going on an excursion the next day!
The actual service was great and everyone seemed really interested in making sure you had what you needed. The alcohol selection was okay, but nothing to rave about, but hey it was free right?
Sidenote--i have been fighting with Breezes on the phone for over a week trying to get reimbursed for the airport transfer that never happened, and they are still giving me the runaround. Guess i wont be seeing that $140 again :(
