“Great Honeymoon Destination!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2011

My wife and I just returned from a relaxing and fun vacation at the Breezes Resort Panama. Since we were driving/boating from Southern Costa Rica, the road trip from David, Panama was long (5 hours - I recommend flying in to Panama City and taking the quick hour or so transfer from the resort - kick back with a drink and relax). We were very excited when we arrived. The grounds, pools, beach, rooms, all surpassed our expectations. I do marketing for a four star resort in Costa Rica and travel extensively so I have several points of reference. To me, "all inclusive" can be a dead giveaway for "Trough -like" dining with lots of mediocre food - slowly cooking throughout the day under a dim heat lamp. This was not the case at the Breezes. Their main restaurant "Taboga" was set up very nice with great food options - the young lady who did the custom breakfast omelets was really great. The Japanese restaurant was fair to good - tuna was OK (the showmanship and presentation was 5 stars)- the Italian restaurant Martino's was excellent...great cheeses, meats, main courses - you do have to make reservations 1 day in advance which is understandable with so many people. Wine is average - but not awful like some all inclusives. The beach is very nice, pools clean, the water Aerobics teacher was very charismatic and made everyone smile. The place had a lot of kids...which don't bother me, but be warned this is a family resort. We stayed 4 nights and flew back to Costa Rica. This place gets a 4 our of 5 rating from me for good service, drinks, food, and atmosphere! Would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Best rooms for the value are deluxe Ocean View

My stay at Breezes Panama was just okay. I've traveled to almost every Carribean Island, and several countries. So I can say my stay here was not exceptional, it was okay. I think they are still trying to define themselves. The two restaurants were not open simultaneously. They used the same menu everynight. The Grill required reservations but it was closed. The Buffet offered some variety. Premium drinks were well diluted. Entertainment was disappointing - it consisted of Karaoke one night, Bingo another night, and an average band another night. My husband asked if we were in a Nursing home. The bulletin board announced a performance by Panamanian Folklore Dancers, when I asked the front desk about it (since I didn't see any), they had no idea. During the 7 day stay one person serving us introduced themselve by name and made us feel very welcomed. Yes, almost everyone smiles. If you like sitting around a swimming pool or swim up bar this is perfect for you. If your preference at night consist of a good pianist and sitting in the lobby, this is for you. I did not go to the disco (lounge), not sure if it was active some nights. Room was clean, bed uncomfortable. After having a great stay at the Decameron two years ago and enjoying their Night-time shows with great performers and dancers, I was hoping to be entertained at night on a similar scale. All inclusive means different things to different people. Since there is nothing around and you are pretty much stuck out there at night, they should improve the entertainment. The Continental vacation website mentioned "Casino", but there is none. In the islands there is competition since the hotels are not this far apart, so the hotels must have nightly entertainment and great service to keep visitors coming back, and be rated an excellent vacation spot. The grounds of the resort are well maintained.A view of the beach and pool is a must to feel like you are on a resort. All in all, I always make the best of my vacations, therefore during the daytime I enjoyed lots of off-site activitites. Panama has so much to offer....

Went there for my honeymoon on May 2010. The only thing I didn't like is the distance from Panama city. It's a 2 hour drive you will probably have to do several times if you want to explore and get to know Panama's story.
Rooms and amenities are very nice, as you can expect from a vacation resort.
Staff is incredibly friendly, they provide great service, always with a smile. Food is very good, especially the italian restaurant. Also make sure you let the bartenders surprise you with their custom drinks!
The hotel is smaller than the Decameron resort (went there on a family trip a couple of years before) which helps you feel more comfortable and "at home".

The hotel is great. It has some draw backs. It takes two hours to get there. There is not a thing to do around the hotel outside the property,no shopping, no restaurants, no walking off the property. If you leave the property to go anywhere its a one and a half hour ride. The food was not bad, it was just something to eat. I never had that meal I wanted to tell someone about. They had a steak house that never opened. No one would tell us why it didn't open. They had a band that played all day and night. They were great. They were the only thing going on in the hotel. Your options for fun were limited! If you didn't like the pool you were in trouble. If you are looking for a place to cool out this is it. If not go to another hotel.

Room Tip: ask for the upper floors they have better views

In a nutshell - great food, kind and helpful staff, clean spacious rooms, and a magnificent beach/pool.

No complaints, only kudos for this newer resort located about 2 hours from Panama City, which we visited from April 16-21, 2011.

Breezes includes all meals, top self drinks, tipping and most activities in the ‘Super Inclusive' package, so you really do unpack once and not worry about a thing during your stay.

All of the food was of great quality and variety and yes, you do receive access to the Japanese hibachi and Tuscan Italian (which was truly outstanding by any measure) restaurants through your package, giving you the choice of casual dining at the buffet or a wonderful table-served dinner every evening.

Bring the kids to this resort. There is a lot for them to do and they have a great Kids Club with a lively staff. My 7-year-old loved going there either for planned activities or just to take a break from the intense sun for a few games of Wii. Best thing was, she met lots of other kids at the club that she subsequently played with throughout our stay - giving us parents plenty of adult relaxation time.

I am not sure why so many reviews say there is no nightlife at this resort. We experienced some fun evening events both on the beach and up near the restaurants, including one evening that featured an authentic Panamanian band that was truly outstanding.

The pools are wonderful – they have a fun water slide, attentive swim-up bar and tanning chairs in a variety of water settings. The beach is also really nice. You can sit and gaze at the water (and receive full bar service from waiters) in one of the many thatched-roof tiki huts located on the grass or the sand. Or you can get up and wander the beach for miles in either direction without the threat of being propositioned by the local vendors so omnipresent at many other Caribbean, Mexican and Latin American beach resorts.

As with so many vacations, the best part is often the other travelers you meet along the way, and this trip was no exception. We enjoyed the company of vacationers from Europe, Canada, South and Central America, and even made a couple of life-long friendships with some other American families. Breeze’s hosts a diverse crowd, which we loved.

As we were in-country for 2 weeks, we drove to Breezes in our rental car so did not experience the bus from Tucuman airport, or any of the day tours offered. If there is any way for you to extend your stay in Panama before or after your Breezes visit, you definitely should as there is ample opportunity to really experience the country within the two hour drive between Panama City and the resort. From Panama City itself (both old and new) and the Canal, to rainforests, mountains, charming country towns, beaches, fishing, diving, zip lining, kayaking and lots of other activities, it’s a super place to visit and relatively inexpensive, too.

All in all Breezes Panama was great – it actually exceeded our expectations on many levels. I would definitely return to this resort again.

First I must say the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The only encounter of friendliness was in the gift shop. Others at the resort seemed to have the same issue however it wasnt enough to give this resort a bad review. It is a clean resort and the food was ok. The buffets had good selection and the Italian restaurant was GREAT. The japanese was of but the only thing i didnt appreciate was being rushed out of the restaurant for the next time slot to come in. The restaurant was empty and we were told to leave because they needed to set up for the next group waiting outside. When we got outside there was only 2 people. There is a great restaurant up the road which the front desk people will tell you. The lobster was AMAZING. We met others at the hotel and we decided to take a cab to this restaurant. The resort is in the middle of NO WHERE. So if your looking to just relax than this place is for you. The beach was not white sand and cystal clear water. Its a mix of regular sand and black sand. The water is not caribbean clear but definately good enough. The pool area was great especially the bar inside the pool. This resort is kid friendly so be prepared to be around families. I would not stay here again due to location but everything else was great!

Was a great place to visit. All staff were friendly and resort was very clean. Pools were well kept and ocean was beautiful. Downfall to this resort was lack of English speaking personnel. Also, not a lot of nightly activities as well as lack of music at the pool area during the day. There is a 24 hour bar, with premium brands.
Late week to weekends seem to be the busiest time and the toughest to get beach/pool chairs if not there early.
Internet access was costly and sketchy at best- made it great place to unwind and relax.
Main dining room staff was exceptional- especially Josey Batista (manager) and Anil (waiter) We had eaten at 2 of the 3 non-buffet rest.- Italian and Japanese and they were very good.
The bartenders were attentive for the most part, based on the crowd. Thje piano bar bartenders were eager to please and Walter at the pool made the BEST Panama Breezes.
The rooms were always clean and made up. The only problem we had with the room were that the shower flooded the bathroom the first time- that seemed to be a common occurrences among the guests, Also, our room was at the end of the hall so we didn't always get a full set of clean towels. We always had bath towels but washcloths and hand towels were hit or miss
If you plan on taking a tour of Panama definitely use Panama Roadrunner (www.panamaroadrunner.com) . The were prompt, knowledgeable, professional and English speaking. They worked around our schedule and made sure that we did everything we wanted to and suggested additional places to see and things to do.
NOTE- if you plan on renting equipment, the prices are negotiable.
The Banana anti-aging facial at the spa was pure heaven and Tarra was great
There are things to do for any age and places to relax if you don't want to do anything.
Although this resort is only 2 years old, seems to need a little cosmetic upgrades
Also-need to keep in mind, at this time, the resort is 2 hours from the airport. They are building an airport closer to the resorts.
All in all, great value and place
.
