I usually love staying at Westin's because I feel pampered. But this has not been the experience. This location is at National Harbor which is sort of a fake city that has been created by developers, and is detached from DC and old town Alexandria. If you have to be isolated here, it is probably just as nice if not better than some of the other hotel options. The development would do well to establish a trolley that would take folks to real civilization for a small fee.
The hotel has many of the amenities (large room, good HVAC and windows, nice bed and bath, bathrobe, minibar) but then has plastic cups, non-dairy creamer and no sunshades to block the sun in the common areas. Plus there is no coffee shop in the hotel (although there is a nice Myjorca a block and a half away). The other reviewers' comments about the loud housekeeping are on spot.More
