Casual dining in the picturesque setting of The Shops and Inns at Historic Smithville, NJ. Good portions and the fries crispy.

“Good stop for sandwhich etc.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

Ate at Fred & Ethel's first day at Smithville. It's not elegant, but has a large bar with TV's for sports, and a dining area off to the side. We ordered burgers which were cooked to perfection. Nice place for a quick bite to eat.

“Start of a very pleasant evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

Two couples stopped at this restaurant on a Friday night prior to heading on to Atlantic City. Food and service, excellent. Atmosphere was quite nice. Enjoyed the experience and will be stopping by for another meal in the near future. My meal was the Rustic Style Boulliabase which was full of fresh shellfish and the catch of the day and it was excellent. Everyone else at the table also remarked very favorably on their meals. Prices were reasonable.

“Decent food, slower service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

I'll start by saying we went here twice within a week, so it is probably more of a 3.5 than a 3. Our first visit was the night of their $10 dinner. We didn't like the options for the $10 dinner and got other menu items. But there were a lot of people there. The meals were pretty decent. The service was slow, which, at the time, we thought was because of the crowd.
Our next visit we had some specials. The appetizer was a bit burnt. The place was pretty slow on this night. But, the service was even slower than the first visit. The specials we got were average. The scallops I had tasted good, but the shrimp was fried a little too much.
