“Looking for a hotel in Absecon? Look past this one!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

My wife and I stayed here with a group of others attending a wedding at the Renaoult Winery. This is a nice-looking hotel on the outside, but that's about the end of the good news. I arrived late afternoon, and it took a ring of the bell on the counter and a 3-4 minutes wait to get any service. Upon arriving in the room, we discovered multiple burn marks in the carpet and on the bedspread (in our "non-smoking" room!). Why wouldn't they at least replace the bedspread?! The whirlpool bath is a nice touch, but the disgusting rusty water that comes out of the faucet precluded actually using it. On the plus side, the room was uncommonly spacious. The complementary breakfast buffet was like most of them... a case of getting what you pay for.

I also got involved trying to help one of the other members of our family group in the hotel. The toilet in their room which started out looking quite dirty, got clogged and overflowed. We contacted the front desk and spoke to the "English-as-a-second-language" clerk. He told us (as best we could understand) that they had no one in maintenance and that he couldn't leave the front desk to come help. I went to the front counter to get a plunger and it took 15 minutes until he got off the phone and so much as acknowledged me. After I unclogged the toilet, it took another 10 minutes at the front desk to get some towels to clean up the mess all over the bathroom floor. To their credit, however, the manager on duty the next morning did issue a substantial credit due to the problems.

This Hotel is very comfortable, clean, staff friendly and I will stay here again.
Breakfast included, however eggs are powdered, but at least you have a full breakfast that the casino hotels dont even offer.
Great price. And if you dont mind the 10 min. Straight drive to AC this hotel is a winner. Clean inside pool, hot tub, whirlpool tub in your room, shower has 5 jets, microwave, fridge, sink clean rooms. I will be staying there again!

My family stayed here overnight after attending a show in A.C. The hotel was not too far from AC (20 min. tops). It was clean, comfortable, and affordable. My children loved the tub in our room with jacuzzi jets. Our room had 2 beds, small sofa, and a chair and there was still plenty of room for the four of us to move around. Definitely a great place to stay while visitng AC. We also were only a short drive away from Lucy the Elephant in Margate, NJ.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a tub with jacuzzi jets ONLY if you are physically able to get in/out of a deep...

Upon arriving at the hotel, it has great curb appeal and looks very new! The front desk staff and the management could use tips or training in customer service though. There was no genuine and warm welcome upon checking in... NONE! In fact, there was a bell on the desk for you to ring to summon someone to the desk... I felt this was quite odd. Upon going up to our King Suite, I discovered we needed some extra pillows as the pillows were not very fluffy and flat. I went down to the front desk to ask for extra pillows and to have the housekeeper clean an area of the suite that had been accidently overlooked. Danny, the manager, said I should tell the housekeeper to clean what was needed. I told him that I felt awkward doing this and would rather have him do it. Danny told me that if he had to go up to the 4th floor, he would have to leave the front desk and he didn't want to. Now mind you, it was shift change and there were two people at the front desk, but yet he refused to walk upstairs to talk to the housekeeper to have her clean our suite. We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and each day passing through the lobby no one at the front desk would say hello or acknowledge us... it felt very uninviting. Also, it seems as if the hotel is running on a bare bones staff... the same managers, not front desk clerks were there each day and there seemed to be only 2 housekeepers per floor and they seemed tired and overworked. When I think of a Country Inn and think of hospitality and a warm welcome... not at this hotel!
The suite and inside of the hotel was very clean though. We had a full size kitchen with stainless steel microwave, dishwasher, and stovetop, and full size refrigerator. There was a sitting area with sofa and desk after the kitchen area (kitchen area was right after you walk in the door) and then the king size bed with a table with two chairs to eat at. The overall size of the suite was rather big and had very good lighting (most hotel rooms never have enough). The bathroom was large and bright. Our shower/tub combo was HUGE!!! - two adults will fit comfortably in the Jacuzzi tub. Also, another awesome feature was the 5 head shower... basically one normal shower head from above with four little shower heads below that... it was quite nice to have that.
The tv worked great and was a nice size, the wifi worked well, and the AC unit worked excellent is the wall mount type.
Breakfast was the average breakfast bar type like most hotels have these days... nothing too fancy. It does get crowded in the breakfast area. You would think that coffee would be offered 24 hours a day, but nothing was offered after breakfast... in fact they shut off the lights as to not encourage you to see that part of the lobby. It would be nice to have coffee, tea, and maybe juice offered 24/7 in the lobby... and maybe fresh baked cookies or popcorn as a welcome. Like I said, I didn't feel welcome or at home at this Country Inn.
The parking situation can be very bad if the hotel is sold out. Two of the nights that we were there the hotel was sold out and there were not enough parking spots for the guests to park in. Some cars had to park along the street and a few even had to park on the sidewalks or under trees.
My only other complaint is that the hotel is at the end of the strip of hotels, etc. and at the end before the Garden State Parkway coming from Atlantic City. If you are coming from Atlantic City, you actually have to go past the hotel and do a U-turn a half mile away from the hotel... it can be a big pain in the butt! As far as restaurants and stores, there are plenty in the area including grocery stores, Denny's, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, Five Guys, and then gas stations, banks, and local restaurants.
Would I stay at this hotel again? yes... BUT the owners and managers need to know that they need to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. The guests are the ones who rent the rooms and pay the hotel bills and paychecks. Treat the guests like you would want to be treated! If you don't like working with guests then you shouldn't be behind the front desk. A smile is FREE and goes a long way! Try it!!

Room Tip: Believe it or not... ask for a room near the elevator which is situated near the front of the hotel...

Pleasantly surprised by this little hotel near Atlantic City. We wanted to stay somewhere close to AC for after the recent airshow. Doing some research- this hotel received good reviews and had all of the amenities I look for when travelling with family (ie pool/hot tub). The room was very clean including the bathroom with the jetted tub(surprising to have this- didn't use due to my own germophobic issues but nothing to do with the visible cleanliness) Service was good- didn't have any issues with check in and room given was exactly as described on the reservation. Travelling w/ spouse and 1 child opted for the king room with sofa bed which allowed all of us plenty of room at bedtime. A nice surprise was the sofa bed was made with clean sheets and there was a blanket/ pillow in a bag in the closet ready to go. Bed was a little hard but more my issue than the hotel. The pool area and hot tub was very clean and well maintained. The hotel was quiet at night despite appearing to be pretty full. Quality of the free hot breakfast was exc ellent- I have stayed at other hotels where you have to pay for breakfast and the quality was not near as good as provided at this hotel (5 stars to the breakfast chef!). The buffet had scrambled eggs, link sausage, hash browns, oatmeal/ cold cereal, bagels/toast, hard boiled eggs, pastries, juice, coffee (very good for mass produced coffee and I am a coffee snob) and numerous other items. As a former business traveller I am very picky about where I stay and I would highly recommend this hotel to both business travellers and families looking for an outpost close to the shore. It was only a 10 min drive to AC, and easy access to other shore points from here. Overall a great stay- Thanks!!!!

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel when we wanted to see some concerts in Atlantic City for the weekend. The beds there are amazing, I never wanted to leave them. The king bed and room were very large, complete with a sitting area and a tub/shower with jets. This hotel also has a nice pool and hot tub area. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel, and the value is great too! If you value a good night's sleep and comfy beds, this is the place for you!!!!
