With a roomy, well-equipped kitchen, playrooms, giant sofas and screens, Emmanuelle Mansions was a good winter place for the many kids in our party (the lack of a proper garden might be more noticeable in the summer, the lack of WiFi a mixed blessing at any time). We liked Aumale, a typically charming, sleepy little town - we missed the full Saturday market as it was still the holidays, but would come back to enjoy it in full swing, alongside lovely little shops. The walk past the watermill and through the meadows into town was lovely. Aumale is well positioned between the coast and Paris, offering plenty of choice of day excursions.
We spent five nights – three families (6 Adults and 8 kids) at Emmanuelle Mansions. Had a great holiday. We had day trips to Paris, Amiens and Le Treport - including ice skating up the Eiffel Tower and sea swimming for some of the kids on New Years Eve: Lovely to see Egrets on the lake every day. Easy shopping (Patisserie, Boulangerie, Charcuterie, small supermarket etc.) in Aumale, and Intermarche not far.
Houses suited us well, with one family in Hidden Gem and two in Ebenezer – worked well to have a bathroom per family, and we made good use of the covered play area (football) and the table tennis room. We all used the big kitchen / dining area in Ebenezer for everybody. Good big saucepans made it easy to cook for the large group, and plenty of fridge space and worktops. Good substantial sofas for kids with screens, and space for family games too.
House was lovely and warm – thermostat was set to 18, but felt more like 21. We liked the idea of a fire, but there was no need. Didn’t do much washing, but what we did dried quickly and easily.
