“Fantastic Stay”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

A three night stay in Lismore for a wedding nearby was made all the more special by our stay at this great Country House. I travel a ridiculous amount, and I can genuinely say this was the best example of customer service I have experienced in years. Nothing was too much for Joe and Noreen whether it was throwing the British Lions game on a huge projector screen, making bacon sandwiches and coffee well after typical breakfast service hours, and Noreen was even kind enough to iron my shirt (shame on me i know!) for the wedding! We were well and truly spoiled by the great staff in idyllic surroundings. Also had a fantastic steak too in the restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend this place.

We cannot recommend the Hotel highly enough. A three night stay in April passed too quickly. Noreen greeted us like long lost friends with a very welcome tray of tea and scones in front of a blazing log fire. Nothing was too much trouble and timetables did not seem to exist. The food is excellent, the accommodation comfortable and the hospitality superb. They provided an evening meal for eight of our family with log fires, good food and we all had a great time. Noreen and Joe are the perfect hosts willing to cater for your every need. We will definitely return! Irish hospitality at its best.

Three nights at Ballyrafter were too short for us as we enjoyed looking after you and your extended family from the local area. 'We could have had you stay for a Month'
Thank you for taking the time to send these words of praise and appreciation.
'Next time warn me in advance if your niece the catering collage professor is coming for dinner'
We very much look forward to your return trip to Lismore and your next stay with us.
With many thanks,
Joe & Noreen and The Girls in the Kitchen.

Best of hotel and B&B --- Noreen and Joe provide an ideal stay in Lismore. The tiniest of suggestions: cloth napkins would make breakfast and dinner perfect. A gorgeous setting, walkable to town. One more thing would help--- better TV reception. Everything pixilated. However, those issues are very slight when stacked up with a blissful stay.

Thank you very much indeed for your Review yesterday. The positives are appreciated very much, and the negatives will be addressed. The TV system ,new this Season worked perfectly until the Summer arrived with the High pressure affecting the signal, updated antenna being installed.Linen napkin normally used but with such a busy weekend for the Lismore Castle Opera over the weekend and a big lunch party the previous day it was tricky to keep-up with napkin laundering.
It was our pleasure to look after you both and hope we will have the opportunity to welcoming you again at The Ballyrafter in the very near future.
Best regards,
Joe & Noreen.

A lovely old style country house in a great location to explore West Waterford and surrounding area. Noreen ,Joe and other staff members were extremely friendly and helpful; giving very good tips on local attractions. Excellent food in a lovely peaceful, homely setting. Irish hospitality at its best. Enjoy a cup of tea/drink on arrival in the Drawing Room, relax before/after dinner in front of a log fire in the Bar.

After a rough crossing, we didn't arrive until after 10 p.m. Noreen and Jo suggested we went into the lounge to have a drink and relax by a lovely log fire, and then they would get us something to eat. What a wonderful welcome to this beautiful old country house in lovely relaxing surroundings It really was home from home where nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, from suggesting things we might to do, making sure we always had what suited us
, from having a lie in in the morning to choosing when ever we wanted to eat at night, which you certainly wanted to do to enjoy excellent food prepared by Joe - his sauces a magnificent compliment to his dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, it was more like visiting friends than staying as hotel guests. We certainly enjoyed happy days.

Room Tip: You can trust Noreen and Jo to give a good room

An elegant old style country house, quietly and efficiently run by Joe and Noreen. An atmosphere of calm amidst leafy surroundings. Convenient for West Waterford etc., horses, golf and fishing nearby. An hour from Cork, Clonmel or Dungarvan.

We've been coming here for years and come back because this is the only hotel on earth that we've been to that feels like a real home away from home. Joe and Noreen make us feel so welcome, the roaring fires and fabulous cooking, that would sit well on the menu of a michelin starred restaurant, turn a great experience into a world class one. Happy to return time after time, whether for a week long jaunt or a long weekend (close to Cork and Dublin thanks to the new motorways). I cant recommend Ballyrafter strongly enough!

Room Tip: We made use of room 5 & 6 so that the children could have a room to themselves... room 2 has a g...

A Gem is a precious Stone and it's easy to look after such Rock-solid guests such as yourselves. Room 5 & 6 adjoin with a connecting Door and so are great for the little one's. Your extended Family have a long-standing history with these two Room (Martin & Emma)and indeed the whole House. It was a delight to look after such accommodating Guests who fell in with Meal Times over an extremely Busy Easter Weekend.
The Children I think, I hope had a ball with our own and visiting relations from St.Albans.
Say hello to all who were Jealous of your return Trip to Ballyrafter. Until Next Time.
