If you ever fantasised …that you wished your “real” parents lived in a lovely big old house, were always on your side no matter what you said or how late you stayed up, made you homely breakfasts and dinners, never asked you to do anything but make a decision between a cup of tea or a gin & tonic sitting in front of the fire, then Ballyrafter is the place for you.

What a wonderful example of old world charm, the Staff could not be more accommodating, the location is stunning and I will return when the weather is a little kinder!
The food was excellent and the log fires were most welcome on a cold damp Sunday.

We recently enjoyed a weekend break in this beautiful old house. It was, as other reviewers have said, like a home away from home. Noreen and Joe and the other staff members we met were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds are magnificent and a pleasure to look out onto.

We stayed overnight in this country hotel. The house was originally part of the Lismore castle estate until it was sold and has been in private hands as a private home and now a hotel catering mainly for groups of Fishermen. The family that run the hotel are very welcoming and we has a nice dinner. Their home made bread is delicious. If you are looking for accommodation in this lovely historical country town Ballyrafter is a good choice.

My Wife and I, recently spent a week end at Bally Rafter Country House Hotel, this is a quaint old style Hotel situated on the outskirts of the wonderful old Heritage Town of Lismore, with its Majestic Castle, and gardens sweeping down to the banks of the meandering river.
It's tranquility only upset by , the occasional patter of the Bunny Rabbits feet running around on the manicured lawns.
The warmth of the welcome by the hosts Joe and Noreen, is only surpassed by the glow from the wonderful peat fires in the Lounge. Dining Room and Bar areas.
We had just returned from a trip to Dubai where in spite of all the glitz glamour and high rise, it is some what lacking in Greenery, so we needed a green fix and we could not have chosen a better place.
The words of that song by Johnny Cash, forty shades of green, would be put in the shade here, there are way more than that.
I know its down to our mild climate, but I will never again complain about a nice soft day, or as its sometimes referred to as Irish Mist.
In fact there is a drink available at the Bar by that name, which is a wonderful aperitif to be enjoyed after Dinner, around that peat fire discussing the cares of the world while being somewhat removed from them, at least temporarily.

Room Tip: South side room. There is no swimming pool or fitness center.

Spent 2 nights at Ballyrafters, wish it had been more. Beautiful room with incredible view, great food, the dinners were gourmet! Excellent breakfast, particulary enjoyed the coal fires in the den and dining room.
