Owner description: The magic of rails golden age has been brought to life in Kilmeadan, Co Waterford. Experience the beauty of the Suir Valley from a narrow gauge railway in partially open period carriages as you take in the panoramic views of the river and rolling farmland. This is an area rich in history and only accessible by train. Great fun for all ages.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Stroller parking, Food available for purchase, Activities for young children

I don't want to be rude, but this railway is far overrated.
Seriously, it's a waste of time and money: 1h of your time and €20 of your money (very expensive).
I wouldn't spend more than €2 per person for what we got.
The train goes no more that 5km/h up a river and in case you missed something it goes backwards on the same railway at the same speed.
There is no commentary (not that we needed one to tell us there is a river on one side and a road on the other), but at least explain some history or local fauna or something.
My five year old daughter got bored after the first five minutes.
I read reviews here on tripadvisor before going and really expected somewhat more.
BTW, it's not even a steam train as some other reviewer suggested and IMHO fake reviewers are overrating this attraction.
Do not go unless price drops to €2 adult and children go free.
Hope this helps somebody.
PS: I can't attached photos because there was nothing worth taking a picture to.

Brought the kids to the railway last week & they really enjoyed it.The station is very well kept, the staff are lovely,it is a credit to all involved.

The journey takes about 50 mins passing Mt.Congreve & along the banks of the River Suir.

Well worth a spin on a fine afternoon.

The staff at the railway are superb and very helpful. I brought 2 young kiddies to visit Santa, this included a return trip on the train, a Santa visit with toy and the photograph was 5 euro extra but you had the option of using your own camera too. Great value for money, the children really enjoyed it and the elves were great at getting the children involved with playing games in two gorgeous little huts outside. Overall, I highly recommend the Waterford and Suir Valley Railway and for budding photographers the scenery along the track is just fab, you will get some unreal photographs.
