We spent one night here recently as my husband was in the area on business. Our room was lovely and we eat in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast. The food was very good on both occasions, my only criticism being the wine was extremely expensive. I took full advantage of the leisure facilities which I thought were very good, the pool area was excellent.
This hotel is on an extremely large site but we couldn't fault the service and all the staff we came across were polite, helpful and friendly!

I recently attended a conference here and felt the customer service was excellent. The staff clearly care about the hotel and really go the extra mile.

I was given a lovely bedroom, which was nicely decorated, modern, clean and had all the amenities you'd expect at a good quality hotel.

It's in a lovely setting and is very easy to find. There's free wifi available, which works well for emails and general browsing.

I'd love to return here in the future.

Having read the reviews of this hotel (after we'd booked) and seeing that the majority of them were not particularly complimentary, we were expecting the worst, however we needn't have worried!

As we were staying for our 10th Wedding Anniversary we called up the hotel a few days in advance to see if we could have a nice room and/or an upgrade, the receptionist we spoke to was very helpful and pleasant and said that we could upgrade to a Double Executive room for £20.00 per night, to include rose petals on the four poster bed, complimentary bath robes and slippers, fridge and a bottle of wine as well. We accepted this offer.

Check in was quite straightforward and the reception staff were polite and helpful, giving us good directions to the accommodation area (on arrival there are signs advising you to park your car first and then check in - this is because the accommodation area is closer to the car park than the reception is - you enter via a door at the accommodation block rather than through the hotel reception), and our room was good, spacious, clean and with a nice outlook over fields.

After check in we went to the Leisure Club/Spa for a swim, again the reception staff were excellent, providing us with towels, and the changing rooms were clean, with large lockers (you need £1 coin for these). The pool is warm and wasn't too busy, we enjoyed a leisurely swim and time in the spa pool and the steam room, all very pleasant and no issues here.

As we had been given a bottle of red wine in our room we asked if we could swap this for white, this was no trouble at all and was brought up to the room by housekeeping very quickly.

The shower in the room was excellent, powerful and hot, although the bath is not full size so is not that easy to take a bath if you are tall!

The restaurant is where Cranage Hall is exceptional, we had evening meal booked as part of our package and it was magnificent, from the Service to the quality of the food which was superb, not to exaggerate but it was one of the best meals I have ever had! The only slight niggle was the wine list, the house wines are not shown on the wine list, and had we not known what it was because of the bottle we had in our room, the cheapest bottle on the list came in at £21.00 (the house white we had was £15.50), We thought that this was a bit naughty, but given the quality of the food we didn't make an issue out of it.

Unfortunately the bed in our room was too firm for my wife's liking (we tested this on arrival and asked for an additional mattress topper but this was not forthcoming unfortunately) - we resorted to taking the mattress off the sofa bed in the room to try and make it a bit more comfortable and as our room was close to a stairwell the door kept slamming as people came and went, which detracted from our sleep quality.

On the Saturday morning the breakfast was plate service as the restaurant was quiet, on Sunday as it was busier it was buffet style, on both mornings the breakfast was substantial and of good quality and the Service was also good.

A few things to note:

1) Free Wi-fi is available, however you have to sign into it every 30 minutes and I found that the signal wasn’t that good, although it was adequate.
2) Drinks prices – Very expensive, over £7.00 for a glass of wine, even taking into consideration that there is not really anywhere else to drink/eat within walking distance I think that the prices are unreasonable, obviously though the hotel is geared towards Corporate events and Weddings where the money is, so the other guests have to choose whether to take it or leave it, we went with the latter!
3) There is a free coffee station outside the bar, it was open on the Friday afternoon but not for the rest of the weekend - you can make drinks it your room but it would have been nice to have a had a nice free coffee and sit in the bar or outside.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning again, the staff were friendly and efficient and, apart from a couple of minor things, nothing was too much trouble for them and most things we asked for were provided really quickly (one even before we had got back to our room!).

I would say don’t read too much into the more negative reviews and go to Cranage Hall with an open mind and you should have a really relaxing stay.

Stayed here for a wedding
Room 203 in main building. Views over fields & motorway in distance, but could not be heard with window closed.
A long walk to rooms through two reception rooms & past bar/function rooms.
Standard book in at reception.
Rooms were well appointed & tastefully decorated, modern & quality feel.
Some bar staff seemed incompetent at creating standard drinks.
Food was of a good standard for a large scale service.
Breakfast was reasonable standard & choice.
Did not use spa facilities.
Based on what i did experience, a reasonable stay, nice room, paid £90 for a room, prob wouldnt want to pay more.
A nice venue, grounds & building though. Same better weather didnt facilitate seeing more of it.

Beautiful Hotel & Spa. Staff really nice, nothing too much trouble even to supplying tickets for local attractions. Food good, rooms comfortable and well maintained. Excellent spa facilities.
Easy reach for Motorways and A roads, short distance for Chester/Zoo. Jodrell Bank and many other places are only a few miles away but the Hotel is in a quiet, pretty village, well away from traffic. Good place to take children as the pool has a large shallow section.

Room Tip: does not appear to be any difference

A short break deal for one night , dinner B&B at Cranage Hall. Complementary wine in room as part of the deal. Food was excellent. The night we were there was buffet dinner night. Main entrance imposing in the original building, but accommodation in modern annexe buildings. Rooms comfortable and clean.
There seems to be endless conference rooms and the dining room was busy with a large number of delegates.
Fair sized swimming pool and gym facilities available. Deal included free entrance to Tatton Park. Well worth a visit and to the gardens in particular.
