Ranked #6 of 7 things to do in Chail
Attraction details
Reviewed June 26, 2014

This place is not yet built up, still in the process of building and even the approach roads are not fully constructed, do not put this place as a part of attraction lists.

Chail Wildlife Sanctuary spans over 110 sq km which is a large area amongst the hills. For comparison it can be noted that Binsar bird sanctuary is 45 sq kms and supposed to be a great upper himalayan forest. Corbett is a lower Himalaya forest reserve which is different. For the sake of review I think tourism has not been developed in Chail and also people have not started exploring these destinations properly and have been busy in visitng Chail Palace or staying in the Palace Hotel run by HPTDC. Chail Wildlife sanctuary provides breathtaking views of Chinar forest with Shrubs which supports a prolific birdlife. The sanctuary probably does not have a proper gate but a trek area from Sadhupul to chail of 8 Kms exists which I am told is a great experience. However localites have no idea on this. The other trek route is from kali ka tibba which is located at a high altitude. The trek route joins with the other trek route at some place. Enthusiasts can take this route from Tibba ang as longthey want to and then can come back. Caution for birders is that due to dense trees birds can be seen/heard but difficult to photograph.
For tourists who want to visit primarily for wildlife only way to experience it will be the trek from Sadhupul. For them a hotel not very far from the entry point should be best like Maple resorts/ ramkrishna tapovan. There is a Sharma food junction near kandaghat who makes awesome breakfast with a broad smile. Do visit that place. For other wildlife enthusiasts Chail Vilas/ Tarikas Retreat( expensive) should be ideal places. Kali ka tibba is close by from these places.
