“World class - an exclusive food experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

The 2 young brothers who run this restaurant, Mario & Fabrizio, have such an incredible passion and respect of food and Sicilian wine that we knew we were in for a great experience. It was the only restaurant recommended by the owner of our B&B who said it would be an unforgettable experience. And it was. We've been fortunate enough to have eaten in some incredible restaurants around the world and this experience was right up there- probably in my top 5! We went with their recommendations, and from the menu which is full of artworks, the vintage local bottle of red(€20 and he offered us another excellent choice for only €14), through to the selection of both hot and cold appetisers, it was all just mouth watering. There were at least 6 tasters with the most amazing olive oil. The mains were both fish, one typical Sicilian and one with a lemon overtone, and both were simply delicious. We were totally full but couldn't resist the deconstructed ricotta cannoli for dessert, which they followed with complimentary dessert wine. Including wine this incredible world class experience only set us back €80, which elsewhere in the world could be up to $200! It is worth a detour to this town alone just for this meal/food experience. These boys really know what they are doing. I can't recommend it highly enough. Wendy (Australia)

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

Our group of 8 ate here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The food was fresh and delicious, 5 ate fish and 3 ate vegetarian dishes, and all were recommended.
The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and were able to explain the menu and specials in English. We were advised to have a more expensive menu that the one we chose, but politely declined and we weren't pressured.
The restaurant is well place near the centre and is clean and well maintained.

“Spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

Couldnt fault this restaurant . The expertise of staff. The wine choice and food were amazing.
Don't forget to have the deconstructed Sicilian cannoli for dolce.

Oh if you don't like fish, you will miss out on most of the highlights.

“Antipasto selection to die for - wonderful value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

We dined at Il Locandiere a few nights ago at the recommendation of our B&B. It was a Tuesday and pretty quiet. Our waiter was super friendly and informative - didn't try to push anything hard, but gave great recommendations. One such recommendation was to start with the cold/hot antipasto selection which was fantastic. Like a tasting menu at a fancy london/nyc restaurant (not that we can usually afford them). We went for the 25 Euro option which included the antipasti and a small plate each of a pasta and fish cous cous. House white wine was also excellent. All up we had one of our all time best meals for less than 30 Euro a head each (we couldn't squeeze in dessert after all that food). Thoroughly recommended!

“The best restaurant in Sicily”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

We have been to Sicily three times and this is a gem. The food should be on food network!!!! The fish meal was outstanding. Fabrizio led us through a tasting meal of all their specialities. The wine was local and superb! This truly a wonderful experience if you are here for the ceramics. The town has a lot of steps and hills but the restaurant makes up for all the hard work you do during the day.
